Founded in Paris in 2024, we combine a commercial SaaS platform with in-house research in oncology and dermatology. It is an unusually practical place to work on AI: the systems we build are used both to advance scientific research and to help bring therapies to patients faster.

Why this role exists

Today, our product brings together several complex interfaces that support scientific work. We are now evolving it into a suite of focused applications and tools, such as an editor, a table and an assistant, which can be used independently or combined to address a broad range of user needs and use cases.

We are hiring a Software Engineer - Apps to help shape and build these applications end to end. You will create intuitive, agentic‑first experiences that help users work more effectively with scientific content and data, across the frontend, backend integrations and AI capabilities that power them.

What you’ll own

• Design, build and operate product features end to end,
• Build highly interactive product experiences, including AI‑assisted editors, data grids, collaborative workflows and scientific data‑exploration tools.
• Work closely with Product, Design, AI and Core engineers to turn user needs into well‑scoped, high‑quality releases.
• Make sound technical trade‑offs between speed of delivery, usability, reliability, performance and long‑term maintainability.
• Improve the shared foundations of our product: reusable components, APIs, testing practices, accessibility and observability.
• Contribute to technical direction and help raise the bar for engineering quality, product thinking and code ownership across the team.

What success looks like

After 3 months, you will have:

• Developed a strong understanding of our users, their scientific workflows and the product’s technical architecture.
• Shipped meaningful improvements to an existing product area with support from the team.
• Established productive working relationships across Product, Design, AI and Engineering.

After 6 months, you will have:

• Taken ownership of a substantial product area or workflow.
• Delivered end‑to‑end features that make a clear difference to users’ speed, clarity or confidence in their work.
• Improved part of our product foundations, such as performance, testing, component reuse, API design or reliability.

• Strong experience building and shipping web products with TypeScript and modern React‑based frameworks.
• Comfort working across the stack: building excellent user interfaces while integrating with APIs, backend services and data systems.
• Experience taking features from an ambiguous problem through design, implementation, release and iteration.
• A thoughtful approach to product quality: usability, performance, accessibility, reliability and maintainable code all matter to you.
• Ability to collaborate closely with non‑engineering partners and explain technical trade‑offs clearly.
• Curiosity and sound judgment when working with AI‑powered product experiences.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Our engineering environment

Biolevate is built on a complex, cloud‑native microservices architecture. Our engineering environment is organised around three complementary layers:

• Platform: shared foundations for observability, testing, traceability, security and reliable delivery across the company.
• Core systems: highly technical capabilities, including our knowledge base, agent‑orchestration layer and reproducible workflow infrastructure.
• Applications: the business‑facing tools that bring these capabilities to users, such as our editor, table and assistant.

Our stack includes Kubernetes, Go, Python and Java on the backend, with Next.js and TypeScript on the frontend. We use technologies such as Protobuf, gRPC and Temporal to build reliable, scalable systems and workflows.

The stack is representative rather than exhaustive. We care more about your ability to learn, make sound trade‑offs and build robust products than about a perfect match with every tool we use.

• Hiring Manager interview - 30 minutes A conversation about the role, product context, your experience, expectations and compensation.
• Take‑home technical exercise A focused exercise based on a problem relevant to the role. We will share clear instructions and the expected time commitment in advance.
• Exercise presentation & role‑specific technical interview - 1 hour You will present and discuss your exercise with an engineer, followed by a technical discussion tailored to the role. Depending on the position, this may focus on system design, product and technical trade‑offs, architecture, reliability, or other relevant engineering topics.
• Values & collaboration interview - 45 minutes A conversation with two people from other teams about how you work. We will share the topics in advance.
• Final interview with a founder - 30 minutes For shortlisted candidates.
• Administrative step Final offer, compensation, start date and remaining formalities.
