Engineering Placement Student

To support our team on critical offshore cable projects. You will work at the intersection of AI-assisted tooling, prompt engineering, and marine/offshore cable engineering analysis. This is a hands‑on role with real engineering responsibility from day one.

This placement will be for a duration of six months.

Key Areas of Responsibility

AI & Prompt Engineering Support

• Assist in the design, testing, and iteration of prompts for AI tools used across the team.
• Support the integration of AI‑assisted analysis into existing engineering processes.

Analysis to Support Procedure Writing — Cable Studies

• Cable Loading Analysis: support structural and mechanical load calculations for offshore cables.
• Cable Storage & Packing Calculation: contribute to spatial and logistical calculations for cable storage and packing constraints.

Enshore Engineering Tools Development

• Catenary Calculator — Lay‑Out (LO): develop or refine a catenary model to support cable lay‑out planning.
• Catenary Calculator — Operations: adapt catenary calculations for operational scenarios (vessel dynamics, tensioning, etc.).
• Identify and propose additional analytical tools that could bring value to Enshore operations.

General

• Ensure personal compliance with all HSEQS requirements, company policies, processes and procedures.
• In all phases of operations, due consideration shall be given to the safety and occupational health of self and personnel, the environment and company assets. Line Managers are to ensure that all work is performed in conformance with HSEQS requirements set out by company and client and applicable statutory regulations.
• In accordance with the structure and governance of the Company, the position holder is to inform their Line Manager of any matters of importance regarding department or the performance of the Company.

Education and Qualifications Specific to Role

Essential Qualifications

• Final Year student or recent Graduate with a degree in Mechanical, Civil or Marine Engineering, or a related field.

Desirable Qualifications or Equivalent Experience

• Previous exposure to offshore or subsea cable engineering.
• Experience with toolbox, Python, Autocad, IA or similar tools for engineering calculations.
• Knowledge of catenary mechanics or mooring systems.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM APIs and prompt design.
