Engineering Manager - People & Growth
Mission of the Role
LumApps is creating an AI‑powered Employee Hub integrating collaboration, communication, and learning into one platform. The People & Growth tribe develops products to help employees thrive through seamless HR and learning experiences in the flow of work. By leveraging AI and MicroApps, we deliver practical solutions for our customers and partners.
We are now seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Learning team. In this position you will be taking the lead and growth of a high‑performing team while co‑owning the technical and product vision for the Learning domain.
Since the acquisition of Teach on Mars in 2023, our main focus was integrating both platforms. We are now moving to the consolidation and value creation phases: ensuring a seamless upgrade path for historic customers and driving innovation with new Learning capabilities to enable upskilling in the flow of work. In addition we are moving forward on our replatforming project to move the heart of the learning system to LumApps quality, stability and scalability standards.
Sitting at the intersection of platform engineering, product strategy, and people leadership, you will ensure our features are robust, scalable, extensible, and AI‑ready. You will join a global engineering organization of 180+ people distributed across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and grow a high‑performing team of 10 engineers, fostering trust and ownership.
- Leverage career frameworks to provide clear growth opportunities for every team member and advocate for performance.
- Mentor engineers on technical excellence and impact‑oriented thinking while leading by example.
Technical & Platform Leadership
- Ensure platform security, scalability, and observability.
- Guide technical decisions and maintain hands‑on involvement.
- Drive team contribution to AI tooling and agent development.
- Complete Learning integration in LumApps product, and execute necessary replatforming.
- Support product maintenance to ensure customer satisfaction, aiming at complying with LumApps zero bug policy.
Product & Strategy Collaboration
- Translate product strategy into a clear technical roadmap.
- Co‑drive the product domain vision in close partnership with Product Management and Product Experience.
- Establish Learning capabilities as first‑class experiences, reliable, scalable solutions recognized by customers as a market benchmark.
- Act as a thought partner on how technology can best support employee development in the flow of work.
Delivery & Execution
- Deliver high‑quality features and platform capabilities.
- Improve engineering processes and operational excellence.
- Achieve excellence in delivery predictability, operational stability, and technical quality by driving clear adoption of modern engineering practices (e.g., Pendo, feature flags, monitoring hooks, unit/E2E test coverage).
- Align support priorities with customer‑facing teams to nurture customer satisfaction.
- Proactively address risks and dependencies.
Cross‑Organization Impact
- Collaborate with other engineering teams and platform initiatives to ensure coherence.
- Strengthen cross‑team collaboration, leveraging LumApps Tribes expertise to develop state‑of‑the‑art solutions serving customer business cases.
- Connect closely with internal teams to leverage latest technologies brought by other tribes and actively contribute to the Engineering Managers community.
Experience & Background
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, comfortable with a diversity of technical stacks.
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role.
- Experience leading SaaS product development, web platform, mobile application.
- Strong understanding of modern software architecture and distributed systems.
- Ability to reason about APIs, platforms, developer experience, and scalability.
- Comfortable engaging in technical discussions without being a full‑time developer.
- Strong people management skills with a coaching mindset.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to influence beyond direct authority.
- Product‑oriented and customer‑aware mind‑set.
- Curious about AI‑powered solutions and eager to leverage them in day‑to‑day work or as product features.
- Comfortable operating in a changing, post‑merger environment.
- Bonus Points:
- Experience in SaaS environments with large‑scale deployments.
- Previous work in multi‑team or platform organizations.
- Experience in business transformations, pivot strategies, services replatforming.
Location & Ways of Working
- Based in Nice (Sophia Antipolis), FRANCE.
- Hybrid setup with 2 days per week in the office.
- Occasional travel, mainly to Paris and Lyon, and other company offices, to collaborate with distributed teams.
