Main responsibilities

Scope & Impact

• Manages a team, typically consisting of up to 7 direct reports. Must have the maturity to manage ICs at higher levels than themselves.
• Drives technical vision for a specialised domain within the broader R&D technology landscape.
• Focuses on delivering exceptional solutions within a defined technical scope, while contributing to the overall engineering strategy.

Prioritisation & Execution

• Drives execution by organising teamwork, setting goals, and holding the team accountable.
• Monitors and escalates issues with team pace.
• Empowers team members to own their work.
• Prioritises and values unowned or undesirable work that enables the team to move faster.
• Aligns domain‑specific priorities with overall department objectives and strategic initiatives.

Technical Excellence

• Is accountable for the technical output of the team.
• Upholds a high technical bar while making pragmatic trade‑offs.
• Develops deep technical expertise in focused domains critical to R&D innovation.
• Establishes best practices and technical standards within their area of focus.

Coaching & Development

• Coaches and provides timely, actionable feedback and advice.
• Invests time in career development of team members, e.g. via 1:1s and aligning employee growth with opportunity.
• Responsible for recruiting, performance reviews, performance management, promotions, and career planning in partnership with their manager.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Leads the vision, strategy and values within the team and across the Digital R&D Accelerator.
• Manages vendors to ensure delivery of initiatives per requirements and design.
• Sets direction for the team on a regular cadence in partnership with their manager.
• Collaborates with stakeholders including customers, product managers, and others in development and execution of the team's roadmap.
• Communicates strategy, rationale, and progress within the team and to external stakeholders.
• Works with their team and adjacent teams to solve problems.
• Escalates problems that have wider scope.
• Partners with leadership on technical direction, enabling more effective resource allocation and strategic planning across the engineering organisation.

What we offer you

A fixed salary over 12 months, supplemented by a short‑term incentive, as well as a collective variable compensation based on Sanofi Group results.

The salary range for this position is €76,000.00 - €101,333. Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programmes.

About you

Background

• 8+ years of experience (or equivalent knowledge). If you feel qualified, apply regardless of years of experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is a plus.
• Experience in an innovative, fast‑paced environment.
• Experience managing engineering teams and developing team members professionally.

Technical Requirements

• Experience with one or more of the major cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Infrastructure as Code – Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript / Node.js.
• Proficiency in React or similar framework.
• Experience building and maintaining microservice architectures, designing APIs, and cloud security best practices.
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and DevOps principles.
