Engineer in Cryptography and Embedded Security
About the role
As an Engineer in Cryptography and Embedded Security, within the R&D team, you will be a key point of reference for cryptography-related aspects. You will design high-security cryptographic algorithms for embedded systems. You will analyze and validate the developed algorithms to ensure a high level of security for our embedded solutions. You will work on state-of-the-art technologies and the latest generations of cryptographic primitives.
The Embedded R&D department is in close contact with the Business Product Lines on the one hand and with Evaluation / Certification laboratories and Bodies on the other. The department consists of specialists in the field of State-of-the-Art Secure Embedded Software development.
Main responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and proper integration of symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic algorithms into embedded systems, according to customer requirements.
- Validate the implemented algorithms and ensure their correct usage by defining and executing test plans. Proactive and innovative, help improve testing methodologies.
- Work within the security team to align algorithm security levels with product security needs.
- Document best practices and provide security recommendations.
- Conduct technology watch activities , potentially filing patents for innovative solutions and publishing in scientific conferences.
- Support teams in developing their expertise.
- Assist multiple projects in implementing security requirements.
About you
Education
Master’s degree (Bac+5) or equivalent in Mathematics, Cryptography, Computer Science, or Embedded Electronics (PhD is a plus).
Experience
Proven experience in embedded cryptographic development.
Language
Proficiency in English.
Technical competencies
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ (Assembly language experience is a plus)
- Familiarity with collaborative workflows and tools (e.g., Git, Jira)
Preferred Skills
- Side‑channel attacks (power, EM, timing)
- Fault injection attacks (laser, EM)
- Understanding of defensive countermeasures at software and/or hardware level
- Experience with smart cards or similar technologies (e.g., Hardware Security Modules – HSM)
- Background in vulnerability research, reverse engineering, or binary analysis
- Knowledge of communication standards such as ISO7816, ISO14443
- Knowledge of post‑quantum cryptography
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and implementation guidelines
Personal skills
Strong teamwork abilities, autonomy, effective interpersonal communication. Strong rigor and ability to act as a technical reference.
