Responsibilities
- Lead planning, design, procurement, and construction activities for pipeline, compression, and civil/structural projects across the BHE GT&S system.
- Provide technical oversight, engineering reviews, and support throughout all project phases.
- Perform civil and structural evaluations, including concrete design verification, bridge and pipe bridge analysis, geotechnical assessments, critical lifts and review of field-prepared designs.
- Manage mitigation and remediation projects such as landslides, pipe exposures, and building installations.
- Prepare engineering specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and reports; conduct studies and investigations.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, review specifications, and provide recommendations for repairs and assessments of existing structures.
- Deliver engineering assistance to internal teams, including training for engineers.
- Provide PE sign-off for applicable intrastate projects.
- Track and forecast project budgets and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Engineer I: 0‑2 years of related engineering experience; engineering degree from an accredited college/university, preferred.
- Engineer II: engineering degree from an accredited college/university and 1‑3 years’ experience.
- Sr Engineer / Sr. Engineer II: engineering degree from an accredited college/university and 5 years of industry experience; PE license preferred.
- Four‑year ABET accredited engineering degree (Engineer). Ability to monitor changes in technology and develop, test, and recommend new ideas and strategies for utilization.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports, project schedules, and cost estimates.
- Ability to lead, work independently, communicate effectively, and establish rapport.
- Ability to define problems, collect accurate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and common software applications; proficiency with MATLAB, Excel, and other applicable programs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
- Strong personal computer skills; ability to manipulate applications and perform engineering calculations.
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proven decision‑making skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles; skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories and practices of the field and related sciences.
Required Engineering Criteria
- Possess a 4‑year engineering degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program based on the year that the program was accredited; or
- Possess a 4‑year engineering degree from an institution outside the U.S. accredited through the country’s own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord, recognized on or after the country’s full signatory status; or
- Possess a 4‑year engineering degree from a non‑ABET accredited program and a post‑graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same discipline is ABET‑accredited based on the year of accreditation; or
- Possess a 4‑year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post‑graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same discipline is ABET‑accredited based on the year of accreditation; or
- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
