Overview

The Energy Systems Analyst is responsible for assessing building mechanical and electrical systems while performing technical on-site surveys and in‑office analysis on assigned projects. Analysis will include participation in technical studies, investigations, and development of energy‑efficient and deferred maintenance scope on assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the production of projects that are on‑time, within-budget and meet the requirements of industry standards & codes and client specifications.
  • Conducts site surveys to determine existing facility conditions either independently or with senior level staff/project manager. Assists in identifying and preparing energy‑efficient and deferred maintenance scope.
  • Assists in the performing of mechanical system calculations including load calculations, ventilation schedules, etc.
  • Interacts in meetings with internal company members as related to the project deliverables.
  • Reviews and analyzes the designs and prepared drawings for mechanical systems for projects including duct and pipe sizing with assistance from senior level staff.
  • Assists the development team in the coordination with other disciplines including energy modeling, financial modeling, lighting, design, etc.
  • Attends in‑house and external training sessions to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas related to building systems.
  • Participates in industry organizations and attends events, meetings, and activities.
  • Upholds the Company owner advocacy philosophy and organizational core values.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from a four‑year ABET accredited university.
  • 1–3 years of experience.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and aptitude.
  • Required experience in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with facility managers and engineers.
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines while on survey.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to use technology and apps for collecting data while on survey.
  • Passion for quality and client satisfaction.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Educational and Professional Preferences

  • Prefer 1–3 years of energy‑related client interface for an engineering design firm.
  • Experience with building energy services in the health and higher‑education field.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical design drawings.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).
  • Participation in industry organizations and attends events, meetings, and activities.

Travel Requirements

25–40% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical Activities

  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.

Environmental Conditions

  • Noisy environment.
  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
  • Quiet environment.

Physical Demands

  • Medium work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
