Energy Regulatory Lead
The Energy Department, part of the European Procurement Organization of ArcelorMittal (around 28.5$bn turnover), is responsible for sourcing electricity, natural gas and industrial gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon and hydrogen), and develops energy projects for the group e.g. energy efficiency, power plants to valorize siderurgical gases and renewable energy projects, etc. The Department is currently developing new axes of decarbonization with Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage, large scale green hydrogen and alternative reductants. Energy department is buying energy directly on markets or through bilateral contracts for European perimeter. Energy team is also providing necessary support and expertise to ArcelorMittal’s steel mills worldwide in their energy projects. Energy team is also reviewing European directives on energy and supporting group in preparing respective advocacy plans.
Scope, Mission and Responsibilities
Help ArcelorMittal obtain the most competitive energy supply (Power & Natural gas)
- Focal point on Transport, Taxes & State-aids. Build & maintain the associated tools to track the spend and enhance additional savings
- Follow-up of the CO2 indirect compensation scheme at French and EU level. Help energy plant manager vis-à-vis certification body and manage tense planning
- Support French energy manager at plant level on state-aid scheme and tax issue (≈20 plants)
- Responsible of the French Energy User Meeting. 2 times per year
- Monitoring the evolution of regulatory environment. Analyses impact of measures and makes proposal
- Keeps informed and supports the different Country Manager and EPO Energy team
- Represent ArcelorMittal in Energy Intensive Consumers Association
Work with the governmental affairs team
- Analyze the impact of any measures proposed by the European Commission
- Make proposal and defend the interest of the group
- Prepare monthly meetings with Governmental Affairs Team and EPO Energy. Propose an action plan and actively participate to the deployment of them
Main characteristics
- Languages: Fluent in French and English. German speaking is a big plus
- Knowledge in energy domain is a plus
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, team player
- Dynamic, persistent, working autonomously and taking initiative
- Excellent communication and listening skills. Able to communicate effectively, (both in written and verbal form), at all levels of the organization.
