Employee Relations Manager – English & French speaker
Amgen is a leading independent biotechnology company dedicated to developing innovative human therapeutics. The Employee Relations Manager will support Employee Relations across assigned countries within the EMEA region.
What you will do
- Conduct thorough, timely and impartial HR investigations into potential policy breaches, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, or other inappropriate behaviour.
- Serve as a trusted adviser to leaders on employee relations matters such as performance management, probation, disciplinary and grievance cases, workplace adjustments, and conflict resolution.
- Provide practical advice and coaching to people leaders on the fair and consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality, prepare detailed investigation records, and present findings to HR colleagues, legal partners, and business leaders.
- Build strong relationships with key partners across assigned countries and partner with local HR Business Partners to ensure consistency.
- Participate in formal performance, disciplinary, or termination discussions when appropriate.
- Manage employee relations cases from intake to closure, recording case activity accurately in case management systems and contributing to regional reporting.
- Support the implementation of the regional Employee Relations Centre of Excellence model and continuous improvement of practices.
- Collaborate with HR, Compliance, and Learning & Development to design and deliver training on employee relations, key HR policies, and channels for raising workplace concerns.
- Use case data and insights to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to strengthen workplace culture and manager capability.
Minimum Requirements
- At least five years of experience managing complex Employee Relations casework, including conducting investigations and advising managers.
- Strong understanding of European employment laws and HR practices across EMEA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply company policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements fairly and consistently.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources, Employment Law, Business, or a related field.
- Experience engaging with works councils, unions, and other employee representative bodies.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, collaboration, and project‑management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and projects, prioritise effectively, and maintain attention to detail.
- Capability to identify potential HR, Compliance, or Legal risks and to escalations appropriately.
- Skilled at managing difficult conversations and conducting objective, non‑confrontational interviews with fairness, empathy, and professionalism.
- Demonstrated sound judgement, independence, and confidentiality.
- Ability to influence and coach people leaders to build capability and manage employee issues.
- Experience working across different countries and cultures within a multinational environment.
- Change agility and experience supporting process improvement or COE standardisation initiatives.
- Additional language fluency (German, Arabic, Spanish or Italian) is desirable.
Compensation
- Expected gross pay range: EUR 63,271.00 – 85,601.00.
