Electromechanical Technician / Technicien R&D électromécanique
About Dioxycle
Dioxycle is pioneering breakthrough carbon utilization technologies that convert industrial emissions into sustainable chemicals with unprecedented energy and cost efficiency. By displacing fossil fuels for the production of key chemicals, Dioxycle has the potential to ultimately reduce over 800 million tons of CO₂ per year, representing over 2% of the world’s emissions.
At the core of our process is a novel carbon electrolyzer , a machine capable of using just electricity and water to convert carbon emissions back into valuable everyday essential chemicals. Our team is innovating across chemical, mechanical and system engineering to turn carbon transformation into an economically feasible, industrial reality through this completely novel technological approach. Having completed our industrial-scale electrolyzer prototype, we are now working with our chemical and downstream offtakers towards First‑of‑a‑kind plant deployment and subsequent commercial roll‑out.
We are supported by world‑class funders including Bill‑Gates‑founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital and Gigascale Capital and have raised $40M to date. We operate from two centers in Paris and California.
Your Mission
You will be a hands‑on Electromechanical Technician on our systems team, working directly on the systems that operate our electrolyzer stacks in a hands‑on role assembling, maintaining and troubleshooting automated test benches. You will apply mechanical, electrical, and software skills in your everyday work, contributing to continued improvement and operation of our extensive electrolyzer test systems.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Center Around:
- Program and maintain PLC‑based control systems (Beckhoff) on our lab and field electrolyzer units.
- Wire, install, and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, and electrical panels.
- Troubleshoot and maintain test benches, including instrumentation and controls.
- Test and validate the sub‑systems through the implementation of test protocols.
- Implement and tune PID controllers.
- Write documentation.
- Benchmark suppliers and contact them.
- Maintain inventory and improve the inventory system.
Abilities and expertise we are looking for
- Diploma (e.g. DUT) or degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field – or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- 1+ year of experience (internships, apprenticeships or personal projects all count; candidates with more experience are warmly encouraged to apply).
- Some exposure to PLC programming (Beckhoff, Rockwell, Siemens or Schneider – any is fine; you’ll learn Beckhoff on the job).
- Familiarity with electrical panel design and reading wiring diagrams.
- Hands‑on experience with sensors, actuators, and basic electronics troubleshooting.
- Comfortable using an oscilloscope and basic electronics measurement tools.
Mindset we are looking for
- Exemplary work ethic and self‑driven attitude: you get things done fast and to a high standard and you don’t drop the ball.
