PDX Maintenance Electrician ( Graveyard/Swing Shift )

From ground power units to airfield lighting, the PDX Maintenance Electricians keep the lights on at PDX. The successful candidate will maintain the electrical supply throughout the airport by replacing and repairing when needed, including maintaining the airfield lighting.

Hours are set by seniority shift bid per the labor agreement and may include one weekend day. The applicant must be available for a set day, swing, or graveyard shift with most likely working from Wednesday to Saturday.

Essential Job Duties

  • Maintain electrical supply throughout the airport systems including pump stations, airfield lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, access controls, UPS, and generators.
  • Conduct maintenance of electrical distribution systems ranging in voltages up to 15 kV.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic controls, including relay logic and PLC programming.
  • Respond to equipment malfunctions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of knowledge of PLC‑based control systems, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Electronic schooling in controllers, data‑gathering, and/or solid‑state controls (preferred).

Licenses & Certifications

  • General Journeyman or Plant Journeyman license (required).
  • Valid state driver’s license (required).
  • Ability to obtain a Security Badge at PDX or other Port facilities with certain designations (required).
  • Class B commercial driver’s license at time of hire (preferred); or ability to obtain one within the probationary period (required). *CDL training costs and licensing fees will be paid by the Port of Portland.
