Position

Electrical Systems Engineer – High-Speed Automation & Manufacturing

Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support electrical systems for high-speed automated manufacturing equipment. This role focuses on power distribution, control panel design, system integration, and ensuring safe, reliable operation of advanced automation systems in a high-volume production environment.

Responsibilities

  • High-Speed Automation & Electrical Systems: Design and support electrical systems for high-speed automated assembly equipment; develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams; support installation, commissioning, and validation of new and existing equipment; troubleshoot electrical issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
  • Material Handling & Automation Systems: Support electrical integration of automated material handling systems including robotics, AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), and conveyor systems; enable efficient movement, storage, and retrieval of totes and pallets through system connectivity and controls; work with controls engineers to ensure seamless communication between equipment and automation platforms.
  • Vision Systems & Quality Applications: Support electrical integration and operation of high-speed vision systems for part inspection and quality validation; assist in system troubleshooting and performance optimization of inspection technologies; ensure reliable data capture and signal integration between vision systems and controls platforms.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving: Lead and support process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), and RCA (Root Cause Analysis); analyze electrical system performance data to drive improvements in uptime, safety, and efficiency; participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Mechanical, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance teams; partner with equipment OEMs, system integrators, and suppliers for electrical system development and support; provide technical guidance and training to maintenance and operations personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8 years minimum experience with industrial electrical systems, control panels, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and develop electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of industrial automation environments and equipment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting high-speed automation environments (300+ parts per minute)
  • Medical device manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with robotics and automated material handling systems (AMR, AGV)
  • High-speed vision systems and inspection equipment
  • Familiarity with PLC systems and industrial communication protocols
  • Proficiency in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and compliance (NFPA, NEC, etc.)

  • Occasional travel for equipment installation, supplier visits, or system validation

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Engineering Manager
  • Works closely with: Mechanical, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance teams
