Electrical Lead — Drilling Technical Support
WTS Energy is looking for an Electrical Lead in Paris, France. You will be a key member of the HQ Maintenance Technical Support team, delivering centralized electrical and instrumentation engineering support to the operational fleet.
The position works closely with rig-based electrical personnel, drilling supervisors, OEMs, and external vendors to maintain the reliability and performance of power generation, distribution, and drilling control systems across all fleet operations.
Requirements:
- Establish and manage preventive maintenance plans covering power generation systems, electrical distribution, drilling drives, and control equipment across the fleet.
- Conduct investigations into electrical equipment failures, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective solutions to enhance system reliability.
- Deliver both remote and onsite technical assistance to rig electrical teams, including support during major commissioning works and critical operational issues.
- Track and assess the performance of power generation systems, HV/LV networks, and SCR/VFD drives, identifying improvement opportunities and performance trends.
- Maintain and update electrical documentation including schematics, single-line diagrams, OEM manuals, and internal procedures based on operational feedback and lessons learned.
- Ensure compliance of all electrical systems with applicable industry regulations and support certification audits, inspections, and CompEx-related activities.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical qualification
- Minimum 10 years of experience in drilling operations and electrical maintenance, including supervisory positions on drilling rigs such as Chief Electrician, Electrical Supervisor, or Maintenance Supervisor
- Strong knowledge of drilling rig electrical infrastructure, including generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, SCR/VFD systems, and UPS equipment
- Practical experience working with major OEM equipment from companies such as ABB, Siemens, Schneider, NOV, Varco, Canrig, and Aker MH
- Familiarity with PLC systems including Siemens STEP 7 and Allen-Bradley, as well as drilling control and BOP electronic systems
- Experience using CMMS software platforms such as Maximo, SAP, AMOS, MM Fusion, or similar tools
- Valid offshore certifications including medical, survival, CompEx, and HV authorisation, as required for offshore operations
- Strong communication skills in English; French language skills are considered highly beneficial
