Join the Electrical Engineering Department of Nexans Research & Territories Techno Center in Lyon and become part of a young, dynamic, and highly innovative team led by experts in electrical systems, testing, modeling, and electrification technologies. This position is being created to strengthen our capabilities in advanced electrification and support Nexans' transformation into a pure electrification player across the entire electrical value chain.

You will play a key role in helping Nexans maintain its technological leadership and develop innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.

Getting a Flying Start

As an R&D Engineer specializing in DC Networks and Advanced Cable Systems, you will contribute to the design, simulation, testing, and prototyping of innovative electrical architectures and cable systems for both AC and DC applications. You will work on strategic projects supporting future power grids, Smart Buildings, renewable energy integration, and critical infrastructures such as data centers.

Working at the intersection of electrical engineering, power electronics, modeling, and laboratory testing, you will help develop next-generation technologies that improve the efficiency, reliability, resilience, and sustainability of electrical systems worldwide

How You Make an Impact

  • Design, simulate and validate innovative LV, MV and DC electrical networks and cable systems.
  • Develop electrical and thermo-electrical models to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Perform network calculations and multiphysics analyses using advanced simulation tools.
  • Define and execute laboratory testing protocols to validate new technologies and concepts.
  • Contribute to the development of Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) solutions for Smart Buildings and energy-efficient infrastructures.
  • Support innovation projects for power distribution networks and data center applications, including cable ageing assessment and future DC architectures.

Your Starting Points

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2–3 years of experience in power system calculations, power electronics and multiphysics modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of simulation tools such as MATLAB, EMTP, PowerFactory or equivalent.
  • Experience with electrical and thermal FEM simulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical testing environments and test protocol definition.
  • Fluent in both French and English
