Overview
JES vzw is a youth organization serving children and young people in Antwerp, Brussels, and Ghent, supporting them in leisure, education, work, training and wellbeing.
Location and Working Hours
Work area: Deurne Oost, Antwerp. Workweek: Tuesday to Saturday (except Saturdays in school holidays). Requires evening and weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Organise and further develop place‑based youth work.
- Seek out the target group where they are, make contact and learn about their situation.
- Set up group‑oriented leisure activities in public spaces for children, teenagers and young people, with attention to girls, supported by volunteers.
- Maintain contacts with parents, neighbourhood residents and various actors in the area.
- Support the target group with questions about work, school, wellbeing, leisure and bridge to internal and external partners.
- With fellow youth workers, set up competency tracks that encourage engagement in the neighbourhood.
- Continue needs assessment of the target group, amplify their voices and provide a platform.
- Build the work in close collaboration with the rest of the team.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in youth work or social work with young people.
- Insight into the everyday world of children and young people.
- Focus on talent development.
- Creativity and strong in developing game methodologies.
- Knowledge of societal vulnerability.

- Independent work, initiative, proactive in the neighbourhood and contact‑making.
- Planning and organising, setting goals and priorities, allocating time and resources.
- Ability to address youth in a confident way and gain their trust.

Specific Requirements
- Evening and weekend work.
