Draughtsperson

We are seeking an experienced Draughtsperson with strong SolidWorks expertise to join our team on a 6-month contract. This is a fully autonomous role where you’ll take ownership of mechanical design projects from concept through to production-ready documentation, working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks
• Design complete mechanical assemblies with full tolerancing
• Produce manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
• Ensure compliance with ISO, EN, and internal standards
• Manage projects from specification through to final validation
• Interpret technical requirements and propose design improvements
• Liaise with production, quality, and procurement teams
• Support prototyping and manufacturing phases
• Drive design optimisation for cost, performance, and manufacturability
• Provide training and upskilling in SolidWorks to the wider team

About You

• Expert user of SolidWorks (3D & drawings)
• Strong grounding in mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
• Confident working independently with full project ownership
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
• Comfortable collaborating across cross-functional teams

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (e.g. BTS CPI / DUT GMP / BUT Génie Mécanique)
• 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design
• Proven track record of managing projects autonomously
