Director of Medical Affairs, France – Structural Heart (Transcatheter Mitral & Tricuspid)

Overview

BU – Transcatheter Mitral & Tricuspid Therapies (TMTT) is pursuing an innovative portfolio of technologies to address mitral and tricuspid heart valve disease. This permanent France-based role will lead Medical Affairs for the TMTT portfolio (including PASCAL, EVOQUE, and SAPIEN M3) with focus on evidence generation, scientific communication, KOL engagement, investigator-initiated research, educational grants, advisory boards, and therapy development priorities. The role reports to European Medical Affairs and Scientific Communications and collaborates with European Marketing, Professional Education, Clinical Affairs, Public Affairs, Market Access, and the French commercial organization.

What you'll do

• KOL Engagement & Scientific Network Development: Build and maintain trusted scientific relationships with French KOLs and emerging experts; strengthen the French KOL network and identify national and regional experts; support development of next-generation faculty in collaboration with Professional Education, Training, and Marketing.
• Medical Affairs Strategy & Cross-Functional Leadership: Develop and lead the French TMTT Medical Affairs strategy aligned with European priorities; influence French market priorities including reimbursement readiness, society partnerships, referral pathway improvements, and France-specific engagement plans; ensure alignment across Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, Marketing, Professional Education, Therapy Development, Clinical Affairs, Public Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial teams; improve collaboration with European/Global stakeholders and translate insights into therapy development and portfolio strategy.
• Evidence Generation & Scientific Programs: Facilitate evidence generation in France (IIS, registries, observational research) in collaboration with Grant Team and European Medical Affairs; design and lead advisory boards, expert working groups, and scientific forums on topics such as patient selection, diagnostics, therapy decisions, and reimbursement readiness; prioritize scientific content (publications, consensus documents, symposia, congress activities, education initiatives).
• Scientific Communication & Insights Translation: Translate clinical evidence and procedural insights into high-quality scientific communications; prepare agendas and briefing materials for KOL engagements; attend meetings, synthesize insights, and translate outcomes into Medical Affairs plans; develop agendas and coordinate regional and country-level congress/event symposia with Country Marketing.
• Other duties: Participation in compassionate case committee and related activities as applicable.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Demonstrated track record in people management and/or MD/PhD level experience.
• Experience in cardiology, structural heart disease, heart failure, cardiac imaging, valvular therapies, or medical device industry.
• Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) with deep expertise in cardiology, structural heart disease, heart failure, cardiac imaging, or valvular therapies.
• Significant experience in healthcare industry roles such as Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Scientific Communications, clinical research, or medical devices.
• Strong scientific foundation with understanding of clinical trial methodology, real-world evidence, and data interpretation.
• Fluent French (primary working language) and English, with ability to communicate complex scientific topics clearly.
• Role based in France with ~50% travel across France and selected European engagements.
• Strategic thinking, scientific and business judgment, and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
• Understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, Medical Affairs governance, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics.
• Ability to define and track meaningful metrics to demonstrate Medical Affairs impact.
• Ability to build credible, peer-level relationships with senior HCPs, KOLs, and internal leaders; ability to influence without authority.
• Excellent communication of complex data to external experts and executive audiences; leadership for cross-functional teams; partnership with senior leadership; collaboration across functions and regions.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable in a fast-paced environment; compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Willingness to adhere to pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules, and related policies.
