Director of Communications and Public Affairs
As the Director of Communications and Public Affairs for Saab France, you will lead and execute an integrated communication and public affairs strategy in France, aligned with Saab's global strategy and regional business objectives. You will develop and implement marketing strategies, manage local media relations, and create compelling content across earned, owned, and paid media platforms. A key part of the role is to engage with French politicians, government officials, and stakeholders to strengthen Saab's positioning in France. You will monitor the Franco‑Swedish defence partnership and collaborate closely with Saab's Group Communication and Government Affairs teams to coordinate interactions with relevant stakeholders. The role will work on a daily basis closely with Group Brand & Marketing and Group Press & Media teams to ensure that local communication and marketing activities are aligned with Saab’s global brand, messaging, marketing strategy and shared ways of working, while being adapted to the French market context. You will also prepare executive briefings, represent Saab France at high‑profile events, and work together with colleagues across the organisation to drive impactful initiatives.
Based in Paris, the role requires regular travel within France and to Sweden.
This position requires approval in a security vetting in accordance with ISO 27001.
Qualifications
- A relevant university degree or equivalent, with experience in similar roles in an international B2B or B2G environment
- Strong background in external and internal communication and public affairs at strategic and operational levels
- Solid understanding of the French political system at national and regional levels
- A collaborative and analytical mindset, with the ability to structure complex topics and drive purposeful outcomes
- Strong stakeholder management skills and a genuine interest in building lasting relationships
- Excellent communication skills in French and English (written and spoken); Swedish is an asset
- Comfortable working in multicultural and international environments
- Experience engaging with government officials and parliamentary staff is advantageous
