Director, Government Affairs for France (this is an individual contributor role with no direct reports)

Oracle Corporate Affairs leads Oracle’s engagement with policymakers worldwide, seeking to ensure a regulatory environment conducive to the growth of Oracle’s business. The Corporate Affairs team includes representatives in Washington DC, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, and Latin America.

We are seeking aDirector, Government Affairs for France, who will be based in ournew Oracle office in Paris and reporting to theVice President, Global Government Affairs. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate Oracle’s engagement with government officials, trade associations, and other key policy stakeholders in France, working closely with Oracle’s senior management in Europe and globally to represent Oracle’s business interests. The role will work also closely with colleagues across Oracle’s legal, compliance, corporate communications, and standards divisions, as well as with business leaders in Oracle’s cloud operations and global business units.I

In addition to responsibilities in France, the role will provide support to Oracle’s public policy activities in Brussels for the EU and may include responsibilities in Southern Europe depending on company need. The candidate will work closely with Oracle’s EU Sovereign Cloud team in Europe and support high-level engagement with European institutions on upcoming EU policy and regulatory developments impacting Oracle’s cloud and AI business. The position will therefore require regular travel to Brussels

Responsibilities

  • Policy Strategy: Monitor and assess regulatory and legislative initiatives that could significantly impact Oracle’s business or the interests of its customers. Develop and implement strategic advocacy plans—working cross-functionally when needed—to leverage opportunities and address emerging policy challenges. Identify key stakeholders and allies, coordinate engagement strategies, and build coalitions to support favorable policy outcomes.
  • Political Outreach: Strengthen and manage Oracle’s reputation with government officials and policymakers, positioning the company as a trusted and credible voice on technology policy issues. Represent Oracle before public institutions, trade associations, think tanks, and industry coalitions. Develop and maintain strong relationships with policymakers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Business Risks & Opportunities: Anticipate regulatory developments in France and across Europe and ensure Oracle business leaders are informed of relevant public policy developments. Work with cross-functional teams—including legal, security, privacy, compliance, and sustainability—to develop policy positions on issues relevant to Oracle’s business, including cloud computing, digital regulation, digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, data privacy, artificial intelligence, data centers and taxation.

Required

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in a highly professional environment focused on policy or political work. At least 3+ years' experience in France.
  • High-tech industry or related experience. Good understanding of tech policy issues including Cloud, data privacy, security, AI and trade.
  • Understanding of the political landscape and the policy-making process in France and across Europe.
  • A proven track record of driving multiple initiatives at the same time.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - accuracy and attention to detail.
  • An enquiring mind, eager to continuously learn about the ever-evolving technology landscape.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
  • Ability to work with colleagues across departments and organizations across different time zones. Comfortable working in a virtual team environment, as an individual, independently and under tight guidelines.
  • Strong team player, highly motivated and willing to provide help where needed to ensure the success of the team.
