The European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN-ERIC) is seeking an inspiring and strategic Director General to lead the organisation through its next stage of development and offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of multinational clinical research in Europe.

ECRIN is a non-profit European Research Infrastructure Consortium that supports the conduct of multinational clinical trials across its member countries, enabling Europe to function as a single area for clinical research. Guided by a strong public health mission, ECRIN provides operational services, scientific expertise, and coordination for pan-European clinical studies in all disease areas, working closely with governments, researchers, funders, regulators, patients, and international partners.

Reporting to the ECRIN-ERIC Assembly of Members, the Director General will serve as the legal representative of ECRIN and will be responsible for defining and implementing its strategic direction, overseeing scientific, operational, financial, and human resource management, and driving the organisation’s development within a rapidly evolving European and global clinical research landscape. The role involves close engagement with national governments, European institutions, and key stakeholders to strengthen ECRIN’s membership, partnerships, and international impact.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in health or life sciences and a strong track record in medical or life science research, particularly in multinational clinical studies. Proven leadership and management experience in an international context, familiarity with science policy and EU-funded research, and excellent communication skills in English are essential. A collaborative, service-oriented mindset and a strong commitment to strengthening clinical research capacity in Europe are key to success in this role.

The Director General is appointed for a renewable three-year mandate and will be based at ECRIN’s headquarters in central Paris, working with a highly multinational team and travelling regularly within Europe and beyond. The position is full-time, with a competitive salary commensurate with the requirements of the role. ECRIN is an inclusive, equal opportunity and non-discrimination employer, with a gender equality plan, offering attractive conditions and benefits appropriate to an international research organisation.
