The Team
Alvarez & Marsal’s Global Disputes & Investigations practice is a rapidly expanding, high‑priority global platform positioned to become one of the world’s leading forensic and anti‑financial crime advisory groups. The practice is currently composed of circa 700 professionals and 90 Partners across four major areas: Expert Witness, Investigations, Forensic Accounting, and Financial Crime/Compliance.

The practice covers the full spectrum of forensic and anti‑financial crime services, including fraud investigations, anti‑money laundering, sanctions, anti‑bribery and corruption, transaction monitoring, regulatory compliance, and broader financial crime transformation programs. Technology enablement is central to the strategy, with a strong focus on data analytics, AI, and machine learning to enhance investigative and compliance capabilities.

We are seeking an exceptional Director to lead our strategic initiatives across AML, sanctions, fraud, KYC and transaction monitoring. This role is designed for a senior leader who combines deep anti‑financial crime expertise with strong technological vision and the ability to drive enterprise‑wide transformation.
How you will contribute
- Define and execute the global strategy for anti‑financial crime, and lead multi‑year transformation programmes across AML, sanctions, fraud, KYC, and transaction monitoring.
- Serve as the senior advisor to executive leadership on emerging risks, regulatory trends, and technology innovation.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimisation of anti‑financial crime platforms (e.g., transaction monitoring, screening, case management).
- Drive the integration of AI/ML models, advanced analytics, and automation to enhance detection effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Ensure systems meet regulatory expectations (e.g., AMLA / AMLR) and industry best practices.
- Develop enterprise‑level capabilities to support risk assessment, model performance, and scenario optimisation.
- Ensure delivery excellence, budget management, and measurable business impact.
- Build, mentor, and develop high‑performing teams across anti‑financial crime domains.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in anti‑financial crime and compliance domains.
- Proven track record delivering transformation programmes in banking, fintech, consulting, or financial services.
- Deep understanding of AML, sanctions, fraud, KYC, and regulatory expectations.
- Strong expertise in anti‑financial crime systems.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to senior business stakeholders.
- Leadership experience managing multi‑disciplinary team.
