About the Role 

In this role, you will be helping to provide legal practical guidance and market insight by contributing to the smooth running of the current awareness and LexisAsk services. You will be helping to source news items and to write and review legal news articles to be published on Lexis+ UK for UK legal practitioners.  

Responsibilities 

Current Awareness/News 

  • ​Daily monitoring of UK legal news developments, supporting the Lexis+ UK current awareness news and LexisAsk service for customers 
  • Drafting and reviewing legal news articles and Supreme Court enhanced coverage of cases for the current awareness service 
  • Delivering high standard and customer-ready news items that are delivered on the day, are factually correct, well written and adhere to LN house style 
  • Sourcing external authors and liaising with them to provide commentary for enhanced news pieces, news analysis and to repurpose externally written articles for the current awareness service 
  • Applying taxonomy to news items consistently and accurately 

LexisAsk 

  • Monitoring the LexisAsk inbox and liaising with customers , triaging incoming LexisAsk queries from customers and assigning them to the correct Practice Area team using the correct Practice Area procedure 
  • Genericising complex legal questions and liaising with the Practice Area's panel of Q&A experts to source responses from external authors 
  • Conducting legal research and liaising with subject matter experts within the Practical Guidance practice area teams 

Requirements

  • Have a degree in Law, or equivalent experience

  • Comfortable working shift hours Monday–Friday, 10 AM–6 PM (June–Oct) and 11 AM–7 PM (Nov–March), SAST.

  • Demonstrate an eye for detail and a quality oriented focus

  • Be able to demonstrate excellent research and writing skills

  • Have a good understanding of legal issues, procedures and content types

  • Be able to think creatively, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work to strict deadlines

  • Be able to communicate influentially and effectively to a range of audiences, including senior stakeholders

  • Be a natural, innovative problem solver, able to collaborate with your team to resolve issues

  • Have an understanding of, and willingness to use, social media and new technology
