Job Offer - Lead DevOps Medical device
Location: Strasbourg, France
Contract: Full-time position
Are you passionate about designing secure, impactful technology in healthcare? Join RDS as a Medical Device Lead DevOps and take the lead in ensuring the safety and reliability of our software infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to establish and advance best-in-class practices to support a certified medical device deployed in clinical environments.
About RDS
RDS is a fast-growing medtech company revolutionizing post-surgical care. We develop Multisense, a next-generation wearable solution that combines a wireless patch with a secure cloud platform for remote monitoring of vital signs. MultiSense enables faster, safer hospital discharge by offering clinical-grade monitoring at home.
Based in the heart of Strasbourg's leading medical research ecosystem (IHU, IRCAD), RDS began commercial deployment in 2024. Our solution is CE-marked, UniHA-listed, and supported by several clinical studies. As we expand across Europe, we are seeking an IT & Security leader to support our scale-up and compliance roadmap.
Role and Mission
As our Lead DevOps Engineer, you will be the guardian of our production environment. Your primary mission is to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of our entire Digital Health platform. You will be at the heart of our operations, taking ownership of our cloud infrastructure, managing critical vendor relationships, and leading our response to any service incidents. You will also serve as the crucial bridge between operations and development, acting as the voice of production to guide product evolutions and ensure we can scale effectively and safely.
Your Core Responsibilities
Platform Operations & Reliability: You are directly responsible for the operational health of our production environment. Your primary goal is to keep our servers and services up and running, ensuring high availability and performance for our users and patients.
Subcontractor & Vendor Management: Act as the main technical point of contact for our health data hosting subcontractors (HDS) and other key service providers (e.g., AWS). You will manage these relationships to ensure compliance, enforce SLAs, and resolve any technical issues.
Monitoring, Logging & Alerting: Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive monitoring strategy. You will ensure we have the proper tooling in place to proactively detect issues, track performance metrics, and provide actionable alerts to the team.
Incident Management & Response: Lead the incident response process from detection to resolution. You will coordinate the technical response, facilitate communication, and drive post-mortem analysis to identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
System security: Collaborate closely with partners and the Information Systems Security Manager (RSSI) to guarantee platform security. Report on security measures to customers and sales teams for compliance purposes.
On-Duty & On-Call Leadership: Organize, manage, and participate in the on-duty schedule with the DevOps and development teams. You will work to refine the on-call process to make it effective and sustainable.
Guidance for Scalability: Collaborate closely with the product and development teams to guide future product evolutions. You will provide critical operational requirements and feedback to ensure new features are designed for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Your Profile
We are looking for a seasoned operational leader with a strong technical background and a passion for building and maintaining robust, scalable systems in a regulated environment.
Proven experience in a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Technical Operations, or senior DevOps role.
Expert-level knowledge of managing cloud infrastructure on AWS, including compute (EC2, ECS), and networking (ELB, VPC) services.
Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
Demonstrated ability in setting up and managing monitoring and alerting tools (OpenSearch).
Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.
Experience in managing incident response and leading on-call rotations.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage technical vendors and collaborate effectively with development teams.
Experience or strong willingness to work within a regulated medical device or healthcare environment (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, HDS, GDPR).
Technical Skills of Interest
Infrastructure & Cloud: AWS (EC2, ECS, ELB, Lambda), Docker, Terraform, Ansible.
Monitoring & Logging: OpenSearch, CloudWatch.
