Skynopy infrastructure

Skynopy is building a secured cloud-based infrastructure allowing satellite operators to seamlessly communicate with their satellite by unifying multiple ground station networks in a single interface. Skynopy ground station network includes antennas from existing Ground-Station-a-Service providers, private networks interfaced to our core infrastructure thanks to Skynopy interface technology and Skynopy own stations. Skynopy core infrastructure is composed of:

• A centralised API to allow users to book, configure and monitor radio contacts
• Interfaces with different types of ground station networks
• Streamers to handle real time packet processing and delivery to customer satellites and their mission control center
• Asynchronous workers to configure ground station infrastructure, instantiate streamers at radio contacts time and perform post contact operations
• A monitoring server to centralize infrastructure and data operational metrics and logs
• Storage buckets to persist satellite telecommands and telemetry data and store mission data

Job Description and Responsibilities

As a DevOps at Skynopy, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth integration, deployment, and maintenance of our infrastructure. If you’re passionate about pushing technological boundaries and enjoy working in a collaborative environment, we invite you to join us in revolutionising satellite communications through your role of DevOps.

As a key member of our team and among the first employees, you will be deeply involved in building and deploying Skynopy infrastructure and monitoring tools in the cloud, from initial operations through to maintenance in operational conditions.

1. Distributing infrastructure in different regions and clouds to minimise data latency and adapt to clients’ needs.
2. Orchestration of short-lived components and handling asynchronous tasks
3. Development tools to improve our ability to effectively deploy our core infrastructure
4. Ensuring the platform is designed with operability in mind
5. Ensuring infrastructure security, resiliency and high availability meeting the requirements of a critical infrastructure
6. Building solutions to ensure our client’s data sovereignty, relying for instance on trusted cloud infrastructure
7. Settling test environments to perform production-like simulations.
8. Handling a multi cloud infrastructure (including Skynopy core, the ground station providers clouds and our clients’ clouds)

You will be deeply involved in building Skynopy infrastructure and monitoring tools, from initial operations through to maintenance in operational conditions. You are willing to learn new technologies and ready to share with your fellow engineers your expertise and technical decisions.

Must Haves

• DevOps experience: minimum 2 year experience in DevOps engineering
• Linux experience: proven experience managing Linux environments: file system, process management, networking and service management
• Network experience: skills in setting up and managing VPN, LAN, WAN, IP infrastructure
• Infrastructure as Code skills: proficient in Terraform
• Distributed systems experience: proven experience in distributed infrastructure design, deployment and maintenance/monitoring engineering
• Cloud technologies: proven AWS experience, with at least one Associate level certification
• Version Control and CI: strong experience with git version control and working in continuous integration (CI) environments
• Scripting language skills: efficient with bash and python scripting
• Monitoring infrastructure: experience with maintaining and monitoring critical cloud infrastructure both on metric collection, analysis, and display
• Collaboration skills: excellent documentation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary environments
• Communication skills: capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about technical problems and propose insightful solutions

Nice to Haves

• Infrastructure as Code skills: knowledge and proven experience in Ansible is a plus
• Kubernetes experience: experience and skills in Kubernetes are a plus
• Backend skills: experience and skills in backend application development
• Data sovereignty knowledge: knowledge about SecNumCloud requirements
