Position: Technical Architecture & DevOps Specialist at Kyndryl
The Role
- Architecture Solutions – Designing conceptual models that define the structure of technological systems to ensure fit with existing systems and to address identified business problems. This may include expertise in architectural design and applications, systems development life cycle, automation, system implementation, IT infrastructure, and system engineering.
- Automation – Designing and building tools to reduce toil and manage rapidly growing number of servers and services. This may include expertise in automation initiatives, release automation, technical debt and toil management, and business and operational process automation.
- Cloud Architecture – Understanding and applying knowledge of how the components and capabilities necessary to build a cloud are connected to deliver an online platform on which applications can run. This may include expertise in cloud computing and security architecture, hybrid and multi‑cloud computing, and various cloud based systems and services.
- Cloud Technologies – Navigating and leveraging cloud computing services for purposes such as increased computing power and storage. This may include expertise in multiple cloud computing services, public clouds, containerization, tooling, and various cloud based systems and programming languages.
- Communication / collaboration / negotiation – Communicating (verbally and written) the problem and solution impact, using language and data that is appropriate for the audience. This may include expertise in stakeholder relationships, communications – listening, negotiations, and communication skills.
- Continuous Improvement/Change Management – Identifying opportunities for improving or enhancing projects or processes to make them more efficient, as well as overseeing and facilitating those changes within the organization. This may include expertise in process improvement, operational excellence, continuous delivery, change management, and communication planning and strategies.
Who You Are
- Deploy and Release Services – Applying practice and innovation in the release of new functions to balance velocity and meet SLOs. This may include expertise in release management, deployment strategies, and continuous integration and delivery.
- DevOps – Develop and implement processes, tools, and methods to create an optimal software development lifecycle, from coding and deployment to testing and updates. Oversee code releases and deployments, design, build, test, and maintain the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) process. The person with this competency will also have the ability to monitor health and track everything happening in all system parts during the software lifecycle.
- Monitoring & Event Management – Using observability strategies to gain insight into complex, composite systems defining and negotiating SLOs and instrumenting SLIs to measure fulfillment. This may include expertise in emergency response, incident management, systems monitoring tools, incident response planning, and system performance tuning.
- Network Management – Configuring, monitoring, and managing the performance of a network to maintain quality of services. This may include expertise in network routing and switching, network troubleshooting, engineering and infrastructure, load balancing, and virtual private networks.
- Programming – Writing and adapting code to create or improve software. This may include expertise in application programming interface, computer science, algorithms, scalability, and various programming and scripting languages.
- Software Engineering – Applying engineering discipline using software engineering tools and technologies in developing, delivering, and maintaining services and systems. This may include expertise in software engineering, DevOps, lean/agile principles, application development, and various programming languages.
- Tools & Technology across the SDLC lifecycle – Leveraging tools and technologies across the entire Software Development Life-Cycle, not just Operations. This may include expertise in containers and orchestration, testing methodology, automated development tools, configuration management tools, cloud application development, network concepts and data center operations and management design.
- Troubleshooting – Approaching troubleshooting systematically and solving difficult engineering problems to root cause sources of instability in a high-traffic, distributed system. This may include expertise in critical thinking, problem solving techniques, distributed tracing, log analysis, TCP/IP performance analysis.
