Research project or operation The project aims to develop and integrate plasmonic nanostructures with electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical approaches for the investigation of membrane proteins. The central objective is to design electrochemical platforms compatible with plasmonic substrates (e.g., gold nanoantennas) that enable coupled infrared and Raman spectroscopic measurements under electrochemical control.By combining plasmon-enhanced vibrational spectroscopy (SEIRA/SERS) with electrochemistry, the project seeks to elucidate structure–function relationships in redox-active membrane proteins, with particular emphasis on respiratory enzymes. This interdisciplinary approach bridges nanoscience, electrochemistry, and biophysical chemistry, and aims to establish advanced biointerfaces for functional protein analysis.
Activities
- Design and optimize electrochemical cells compatible with plasmonic nanostructures
- Integrate electrochemical control with infrared and Raman spectroscopies
- Functionalize plasmonic substrates for membrane protein immobilization and stabilization
- Perform spectroelectrochemical experiments on redox-active membrane proteins
