Design Manager – Data Centres | Customer Fit Out

The Opportunity

ECC Group is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team supporting a major data centre development in the Paris region.

This is a senior, site-based position with a particular focus on Customer Fit Out (CFO) scope , working across engineering, design, construction and operational stakeholders to ensure technical solutions are coordinated and delivered effectively.

The successful candidate will have a strong Mechanical & Electrical engineering background , ideally gained within data centres, mission‑critical infrastructure or other technically complex environments .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design activities associated with Customer Fit Out packages .
• Lead and contribute to technical and Customer Fit Out project meetings.
• Coordinate external designers, internal engineering teams, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Review designs and provide technical input to optimise engineering and implementation strategies.
• Support the design and engineering of critical infrastructure systems.
• Coordinate supplier performance, technical submissions and delivery requirements.
• Ensure designs align with relevant engineering standards, operational requirements and safety expectations.
• Provide technical expertise across electrical, telecoms, security and BMS infrastructure associated with Customer Fit Out works.
• Support specialist customer requirements including office fit‑out, storage areas and customer‑specific technical packages.
• Assist with technical investigations and Root Cause Analysis where required, ensuring lessons learned are incorporated into future design and delivery.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Engineering, Construction or Technical discipline .
• Strong Design Management experience within complex construction or engineering projects.
• Experience within data centres or critical infrastructure is strongly preferred.
• Good technical understanding of electrical systems, telecoms, security and/or BMS infrastructure .
• Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders including external designers, consultants, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of engineering design best practice, safety standards and operational requirements.
• Excellent problem‑solving, technical coordination and communication skills.
• Professional qualification such as Chartered Engineer or Chartered Surveyor would be advantageous.

Language Requirement

The ability to operate confidently in both languages is essential due to the international nature of the project and stakeholder environment.
