Tasks and Responsibilities
We are looking for a Design Engineer (ICM) – Exterior Equipment to ensure the technical feasibility and consistency of exterior components within a defined project scope. The role focuses on managing the techno-economic convergence of the perimeter while guaranteeing compliance with project requirements in terms of Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Performance (QCDP).
The successful candidate will play a key role in product definition, feasibility validation, and cross-functional coordination, ensuring that all technical solutions are aligned with design, manufacturing, and project constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the technical feasibility of the assigned project scope
- Drive the techno-economic convergence of the perimeter
- Guarantee the achievement of QCDP objectives within the defined scope
- Lead and contribute to:
- BOM (Bill of Materials) consolidation
- Product definition and specifications
- Mass optimization
- Functional Performance Requirements (FPR)
- Support the consolidation of part splitting and component definition
- Ensure feasibility of assembly concepts and processes
- Validate product and process feasibility, including:
- Compliance with plastics standards and guidelines
- Alignment with partner engineering domains:
- Logistics
- Purchasing
- External suppliers/services
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration and consistency of solutions
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of exterior systems (e.g., bumpers, sealing, glazing, mechatronics)
- Experience in product design, BOM management, and technical validation
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, especially plastics
- Familiarity with automotive development processes and lifecycle
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., CATIA V5/V6) and PLM systems is a plus
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and international environment
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Detail-oriented with a structured approach to engineering challenges
Languages
- Minimum professional proficiency in English (required)
- Additional languages are a plus
Other
- Strong technical rigor and ability to manage complex engineering topics
- Proactive mindset with focus on feasibility and optimization
