Design Engineer I
Summary
The Design Engineer will be responsible for utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools to conceptualize, design, and develop laboratory instruments and components. The individual will work both independently and collaboratively within cross‑functional teams to develop innovative solutions that align with customer requirements. The role will involve working on projects of increasing complexity, requiring a solid understanding of engineering principles, design methods, and manufacturing processes. A strong commitment to integrity and safety is essential, along with a willingness to continuously develop new skills in product design and engineering.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed CAD designs for laboratory instruments and components.
- Prepare testing procedures and reports, which may include hands‑on involvement in testing programs.
- Provide technical support to various departments, including manufacturing, quality, and safety, to resolve design‑related challenges.
- Investigate product non‑conformances and engineering change requests, implementing modifications as needed.
- Assist the presales and after‑sales teams with technical expertise throughout product development, production, and customer‑specific applications.
- Gain knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product functionalities to support technical decision‑making.
- Participate in the development and improvement of product lines with guidance and supervision.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all design work.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills within the field.
- Respect and protect company and client confidentiality.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Technical degree or diploma in Design/Drafting (BTS, DUT, or equivalent).
- Experience with material calculations.
- 3‑5 years of experience in CAD design, preferably in laboratory instruments or related fields.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (minimum 2 years of experience preferred).
- Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor is a plus.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pressure vessels, and automated control systems is desired.

- Strong proficiency in CAD software for 2D and 3D modeling.

- Understanding of engineering principles and industry regulations.
