DataBase Administrator
Role Overview
Our growth is driving us to strengthen our Database & Data Platform team to increase our capacity to improve the reliability and robustness of our internal and external databases. Your mission will be to maintain and enhance our internal and public-facing database infrastructure in order to support the scalability, security, and long-term performance of our platforms.
Team
We work in a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and mutual support are key to driving our ambitions forward. You will join a team of 6 people composed of 2 DBAs, 2 developers, 1 product manager, and 1 engineering manager. Everyone is based in France.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and evolve internal databases (updates, bug fixes, optimizations, automation, deployments, decommissions).
- Contribute to the maintenance of public database services and integration of new engine features (e.g., replication, high availability, backup strategies).
- Diagnose and resolve incidents and bugs affecting databases.
- Improve the technical stack used for database management and automation.
- Deploy new database instances and design robust backup strategies (snapshots, replication, HA, disaster recovery).
- Work with tools like Ansible and Docker to support infrastructure and automation.
- Collaborate with developers and other DBAs to guide database usage and best practices.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation.
- Contribute to design reviews and propose improvements to internal architecture and tooling.
Hard Skills
- Solid experience in administering at least one major RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle), ideally in production environments.
- Ability to deploy and maintain databases, including setting up high availability, replication, backups, and engine upgrades.
- Strong Linux system administration skills and experience with Bash scripting.
- Comfortable working with automation and infrastructure tools: Ansible, Docker, Git & CI/CD pipelines.
- Development experience in Python or Go.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus.
- Deep understanding of database administration mechanisms: security, access control, disaster recovery, and service continuity strategies.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and synthesis skills: ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong sense of rigor and high standards, especially when working on critical infrastructure.
- Proactive and autonomous, with the ability to work effectively in a distributed team.
- Ability to collaborate with empathy and contribute to a caring, respectful work environment.
- Professional written communication in English; comfort in French‑speaking teams.
