Role Summary

As a Data Scientist you will be part of the Data team, a transverse organization with a major role to support our business. You will report to the Data Science Manager and work with a team of approximately 30 people, including Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Web Analysts.

Key Responsibilities

• Own one or several business‑data domains and partner with business teams to accelerate strategy and related projects using data science.
• Develop a deep understanding of TheFork’s B2C value proposition and business operations to deliver high‑quality data products involving machine learning and statistics for decision‑making and performance management.
• Build recommendation algorithms to be integrated into our app and web platform.
• Improve restaurant ranking in our search engine.
• Assist the CRM team in detecting early churners among B2C users.
• Build relevant scores and segmentation to improve the efficiency of CRM campaigns.
• Analyse A/B test results to drive decisions taken by business stakeholders.
• Deliver scalable, performant, and cost‑efficient assets with low maintenance costs.
• Upskill the data‑science team around machine learning and statistics and at least one application field (ranking, search, recommendation, customer knowledge, A/B testing).
• Improve the data‑science team organization and technical stack to support growth and new project requirements.
• Grow demand knowledge in collaboration with other data team members and develop expertise in marketplaces.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in an Engineering School with a specialization in mathematics, computer science or Data Science, or a PhD in mathematics, physics or computer science.
• Almost 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist (at least 2 years for a PhD) in demand‑related topics (data science at scale for a marketplace, expertise around ranking problems, close collaboration with CRM teams).
• Excellent analytical skills, including data analysis and modeling, ability to model complex problems, find insights in large datasets and summarise findings in a clear and actionable way.
• Deep knowledge and industry experience in machine learning and statistics and at least one of the following topics: ranking, search, recommendation, customer knowledge, A/B testing.
• Good proficiency in Python and SQL for developing POCs and industrialisation with ML engineers.
• Professional English communication skills (#LI‑LD2).
