Deep expertise in Machine Learning, AI (LLM fine‑tuning), and an awareness of cheminformatics are all key here.

In this role you will:

• Develop and enhance machine learning models and algorithms that sit at the heart of a cutting‑edge AI platform, helping solve complex scientific and chemistry‑related challenges.
• Build, optimise, and maintain large‑scale data pipelines, transforming millions of proprietary scientific records into high‑quality datasets that power model development.
• Continuously improve model performance by incorporating new research findings, experimental results, and validation data into the platform's learning processes.
• Collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, and subject matter experts to translate complex scientific problems into scalable, practical AI solutions.
• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of a market‑leading technology platform, identifying opportunities for innovation, optimisation, and the application of new machine learning techniques.

About You

• Strong academic background in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline to MSc or PHD level.
• Commercial experience applying machine learning techniques to solve real‑world problems.
• Strong understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning algorithms, and data‑driven decision making.
• Excellent Python programming skills and familiarity with modern machine learning frameworks.
• Experience working with large datasets and building robust data pipelines.
• Knowledge of taking models from research and prototyping through to production environments.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across both technical and non‑technical teams.
• Naturally curious, analytical, and motivated by solving complex challenges.
• Exposure to chemistry, cheminformatics, retrosynthesis, or scientific data envir onmentsExperience with MLOps practices and cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of modern AI tooling, including large language models.
• Familiarity with optimisation techniques and applied mathematics.
