Data Scientist

Overview

General Context: As a Data Scientist, this role requires expertise in SQL, modern enterprise Machine Learning platforms (such as Azure ML or Vertex AI), and the ability to adapt within a hybrid-cloud environment. Knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is essential. The data scientist reports to the Data Solutions IT Manager. Position located in Ancenis (44) – FRANCE, at the Headquarters.

Missions

• Support Existing Use Cases: Maintain, enhance, and optimize machine learning models and workflows currently deployed on Azure ML.
• Promote Self-Service: Deploy and evangelize self-service analytics and data science tools, empowering business users to explore data and derive insights independently.
• Foster Innovation: Collaborate across teams to identify opportunities for leveraging advanced analytics and AI tools, promoting a data-driven culture.
• Generative AI and BI Initiatives: Lead and support the adoption of Generative AI models and Generative BI capabilities, identifying practical applications and ensuring successful deployment.
• Cloud Ecosystem Expertise: Integrate data science solutions across a hybrid-cloud ecosystem, ensuring interoperability, performance, and secure data flow.
• Develop AI Pipelines: Design and implement modern AI architectures (e.g., Retrieval-Augmented Generation) to securely connect foundation models with proprietary business data.
• Training and Enablement: Conduct workshops to build data literacy and empower internal teams with data science and AI knowledge.

Experience & Expertise

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or related fields.
• Fluent in French and English (B2 level for both).
• Proven track record in building and deploying machine learning models and Generative AI solutions in production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure ML and SQL.
• Advanced programming skills in Python.
• Knowledge of GCP services, including Vertex AI, is a plus.
• Familiarity with multi-cloud environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualization tool (Tableau) is a plus.
• Experience with MLOps and LLMOps practices, including model evaluation, token optimization, and lifecycle management of generative models.
• Understanding of data governance and security in multi-cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Generative AI frameworks and practical applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Certification in cloud architecture, modern AI engineering, or relevant platforms (Azure, GCP) is a plus.

What Manitou Group offers

Location: Ancenis, France. Hybrid format: 2 days on site, 2 days remote (1 day optional on coworking desks in Nantes city center near the train station).
