About the Role
We are seeking a Data Science Engineer / Consultant to join our Risk Consulting department. This dual‑profile role combines technical expertise in risk modeling with consulting responsibilities for financial institutions.
You will contribute to the development and implementation of quantitative solutions (models, methodologies) to assess financial and extra‑financial risks, including climate‑related risks, ecosystem degradation, resource use, and circular economic impacts. You will also support clients in integrating environmental financial risks into their risk management processes and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement risk models for financial and extra‑financial analysis.
- Support clients in deploying these models and methodologies.
- Contribute to regulatory reporting and ESG integration for financial institutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to leverage model outputs for ratings, reporting, and advisory services.
- Participate in environmental research projects with the EthiFinance Analytics team.
- Analyse diverse datasets (economic, financial, environmental) to feed models and develop risk scores.
- Quantify dependencies between environmental and economic systems.
- Ensure the efficiency and reliability of models and tools used across departments.
- Translate complex scientific concepts into accessible insights for non‑experts.
What You’ll Bring
Education & Experience
- Degree in Data Science, Environmental Science, Economics, Finance, or related fields.
- Strong skills in Python, data analysis, statistics, modeling, or applied mathematics.
- Experience in numerical simulation and environmental topics is a plus.
- Prior experience in a similar role (even partially) is required.
Skills
- Strong interest in the intersection of environment, economy, and finance.
- Knowledge of sustainable finance concepts and regulations is a plus.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and efficiency.
- Initiative and creativity in problem‑solving.
- Ability to simplify and explain advanced scientific concepts.
Language
- Professional fluency in English (written and spoken), especially in technical vocabulary.
- Fluency in French (most clients are based in Paris).
- Additional language skills (Spanish or German) are a plus.
