Data Engineering & AI Manager

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering & AI Manager to lead a growing team of ~7 professionals (data engineers, AI engineers) within the IS department and drive the evolution of our enterprise data and AI platform.
Reporting to the Director of IS Data Services, you will work closely with System Integration and Architecture teams to ensure alignment across data flows, platforms, and integration solutions.
This is a key leadership role focused on delivering scalable, reliable data platforms and AI capabilities that support enterprise decision‑making. You will combine technical expertise with strong people’s leadership to drive execution while fostering a high‑performing, collaborative team culture.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage a multicultural international multidisciplinary data and AI engineering team. Promote clear objectives, knowledge sharing, and continuous development.
- Data Platform & Architecture: Own and evolve the enterprise data platform (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Fabric) and pipelines (Fivetran, Talend, Python). Ensure scalable, secure, and well‑designed architectures aligned with best practices (e.g., data modeling, ELT/ETL, SQL).
- AI & MLOps Integration: Drive adoption of AI/ML capabilities within data products. Ensure robust MLOps practices for deployment, monitoring, and value delivery.
- Delivery Management: Prioritize and plan team activities with Product Owners and Project Managers. Balance new initiatives with technical debt, ensuring readiness, realistic planning, and quality delivery.
- Engineering Excellence: Oversee full lifecycle delivery of data and AI solutions. Enforce standards in design, coding, testing, CI/CD, and documentation (DataOps practices).
- Operations & Reliability: Ensure stable and performant production environments through monitoring, optimization, and incident management. Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as key interface between business stakeholders and IS teams. Partner with Integration teams (e.g., Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow) and Architecture to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and governance.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to data security, privacy, and governance policies across all solutions.
- Innovation: In partnership with the Architecture team, monitor industry trends and introduce new tools, frameworks, and practices to improve platform capabilities and team productivity.
Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields, including 3+ years leading technical teams. Proven track record delivering enterprise‑scale data platforms.
Leadership: Strong team management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to drive delivery in complex, cross‑functional environments.
Technical Expertise
- Data pipelines and integration (SQL, Python, dbt, Fivetran, Talend, Airflow)
- Cloud data platforms (preferably Snowflake) and ecosystem (AWS or similar)
- Data modeling (dimensional, Data Vault) and architecture design
- AI/ML lifecycle and MLOps fundamentals
- DataOps and software engineering best practices (CI/CD, testing, documentation)
Collaboration & Strategy
Ability to align with data architecture, governance, and integration teams while contributing to broader data strategy and technology roadmaps.
This role combines hands‑on technical leadership with team management and delivery ownership. Success requires both architectural engagement and strong people leadership.
