About the role

Vibe is on the lookout for a skilled Data Engineer to become part of our Data Platform team, with a primary focus on measurement and reporting. In this position, you will be responsible for constructing and upholding the data pipelines that drive our product features and provide essential reporting for advertisers. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our data remains accurate and readily available, working in close collaboration with the infrastructure team to achieve these goals.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement schema modifications to accommodate new product features while ensuring existing systems remain unaffected.
• Oversee the movement and transformation of data across tables in response to evolving reporting and product requirements.
• Ensure the integrity of reporting pipelines, delivering accurate and up-to-date campaign performance metrics to advertisers.
• Investigate and rectify data inconsistencies by tracing them back to their original sources.
• Work collaboratively with the Data Platform team to gain insights into the underlying storage and computational systems.
• Proactively identify potential scaling challenges or data quality concerns before they elevate into significant issues.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to data pipelines and processes for future reference and onboarding.
• Engage in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance team performance and code quality.
• Assist in the integration of new data sources and ensure they align with existing data architecture.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing projects, share insights, and strategize on future initiatives.
• Monitor and optimize data pipeline performance to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in developing production-grade data pipelines, moving beyond simple ad-hoc analysis.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, along with a solid understanding of data modeling and schema design principles.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Dagster or Airflow, or transformation tools like dbt.
• Ability to convert vague requests into clear, actionable tasks that can be executed effectively.
• Comfort and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities may shift rapidly.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail to ensure data quality and reliability.

Nice to have

• Experience with column-store analytics engines, particularly ClickHouse.
• Knowledge of streaming data systems, such as Kafka, to handle real-time data processing.
• A background in AdTech or programmatic advertising, providing context to the data you will be working with.
