Confidential search, on behalf of a fast-growing GPU-as-a-Service provider
Our client delivers scalable, high-performance compute infrastructure purpose-built for AI and HPC workloads, operating mission‑critical data centres globally where uptime, throughput and ultra‑low latency are non‑negotiable. We're hiring a deeply technical, hardware‑passionate Datacentre Operations Engineer to run on‑the‑ground operations at their premier, cutting‑edge AI infrastructure site in Paris‑Saclay, one of their flagship deployments in Europe.
This is a hands‑on floor role: advanced smart‑hands support, complex cabling, and direct operation of next‑generation liquid cooling and ultra‑high‑density GPU compute systems, delivering world‑class SLAs on some of the most advanced hardware architecture in the industry. You'll work closely with Infrastructure (HPC) SRE, Network Engineering and Datacentre Strategy teams, turning global engineering standards into flawless, repeatable daily routines. Experience with NVIDIA NVL72‑class or busbar/high‑density compute is strongly valued. Candidates with strong aptitude and a clear willingness to train to proficiency on these platforms are equally welcome.
What you'll be doing
- Diagnose and resolve hardware/network issues via structured break/fix methodology (GPU module exchange, component‑level fault isolation, firmware diagnostics) to maximise uptime
- Operate, monitor and maintain Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) systems: CDUs, rear‑door heat exchangers, in‑row cooling and coolant infrastructure, including routine and corrective maintenance and leak detection
- Support break/fix on ultra‑high‑density platforms (NVIDIA NVL72‑class/GB200 NVLink rack‑scale or equivalent), including coolant loop isolation and busbar connection/disconnection
- Own site‑level capacity management (power, space and cooling utilisation) and asset lifecycle tracking in the CMDB
- Handle RMAs and vendor support requests within SLOs; maintain and evolve SOPs for safe, compliant operation
- Operate within ITSM frameworks (Incident, Major Incident, Change Management); participate in 24x7x365 on‑call rotation
- Champion a \"do, document, automate\" culture, and cross‑train into Infrastructure/Platform SRE practices over time
- Travel across EMEA as needed to support new site onboarding and train on emerging technologies
What you'll bring
- Degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years' directly relevant data centre operations experience
- 3+ years in data centre operations, HPC, or a related field
- Hands‑on experience with HPC/NVIDIA GPU platforms (or equivalent high‑density compute), high‑performance storage and networking
- Practical DLC experience (CDU operation, coolant monitoring, leak detection), or strong adjacent cooling infrastructure experience with genuine willingness to train
- Comfort with high‑density power distribution (busbar/PDU) at >30kW/rack, or clear aptitude to get there
- Fluent French and English
- Solid grounding in ITSM/service operations best practices, and a track record of clear communication with cross‑functional, internationally distributed teams
Nice to have:
- vendor‑endorsed NVIDIA/HPE (or equivalent) qualifications for high‑density AI compute or liquid cooling; HVAC qualifications; ITIL Foundation; experience with large‑scale private cloud capacity planning.
Why this role
Get hands‑on with some of the most advanced GPU/AI infrastructure in Europe, at a business scaling fast across EMEA: real ownership of the floor, direct influence over operational standards, and a clear path to grow into Infrastructure/Platform SRE work as the site (and your remit) expands.
