Overview of the Department/Section
The Risk Management Unit comprises of 2 departments:
Risk Management Dept (RMD)
Responsible for the control and administration of the bank’s credit and market risk transaction portfolio and customer data.
Internal Control Dept (ICD)
Responsible for the control of the bank’s operational risk management, including the implementation of the Self-Inspection program
Mail Purpose of the Role
Main task consists of supporting the Risk Management Department, one of the two departments of Risk Management Unit (RMU) with the Internal Control Department, which is the second line of defence of MUFG bank Paris for Credit, Market and Liquidity Risk. This Includes to support and/or conduct administrative & reporting tasks assigned to the Risk Management Department, to assist in the management, monitoring and control of the bank’s Credit and Market risks activities.
Key Responsibilities
General
- To Support the Credit Risk and Market/Liquidity Risk control framework through risk monitoring, analysis, reporting, and independent challenge of risk-taking activities.
- To authorize/verify electronic data entries in the bank’s databases and main IT applications in use for the registration of market risk transaction and customer data.
- To ensure the timely and correct periodical ad hoc reports.
- To supervise the preparation and organization of various committees at the Branch’s level (Credit Committee, ALM Committee, Risk Management Committee).
- To periodically review the efficiencies of procedures/policies, departmental workflows, IT automation, and mitigate the risk the bank is exposed to.
- Acknowledging the various risks comprising credit risk, market risk, and suggesting opinions on how to manage these risks in order to assist management in decision making.
- To support the new product approval process.
- To support the business continuity activity of the Bank.
- Actively develop and maintain a wide range of contacts both internally and externally in order to obtain / exchange information, identify and establish best practice and where appropriate ascertain further customer requirements.
- Adapt to and identify changes.
- Support to supervising of all tasks to track errors in systems, processes and working practices in order to achieve operational improvement.
- Ensure compliance with the Bank’s rules, policies, procedures and guidelines together with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
Consultation and others
- Participating in internal or external consultation platforms (either on an ad hoc or permanent basis) regarding Operations, in particular:
- OCC (Operations Control Committee)
- CC (Credit Committee)
- RMC (Risk Management Committee)
- CMC (Crisis Management Committee)
- ALMC (Asset and Liabilities Management Committee)
- Contact with external auditors, supervisors, MUFG units (especially in London or Tokyo) regarding data supply or data requests for the benefit of the duly information supply by RMU.
Work Experience
Thorough understanding of all risks related to corporate banking products and services. Five years’ experience in a similar function or relevant area (like Risk management, Middle Office Treasury).
Skills and Experience
Functional/Technical Competencies:
- The function requires knowledges on risk management area with a global view of all risks of the bank. It requires, also, knowledge of the (intra-)departmental work flows and processes, of all products offered by the bank, as well of the applicable internal and external legislation.
- The function also requires knowledge of and experience with automated database storage, processing and desktop IT skills (Windows, MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS word, Refinitiv Workspace).
- Willingness to understand MUFG strategies, regulations and manuals.
- Verbal and written communication skills in English and French are essential.
- Strong interpersonal, networking and communication skills.
Education/Qualifications:
The function requires the equivalent of a Master Degree.
