Job Description
Cost Accountant
Key Responsibilities
1. Costing & Cost Analysis
- Develop, implement, and monitor standard costing , BOM costing, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and analyze product costing , raw material costing, and process costing.
- Perform detailed cost audits and review cost drivers across operations.
- Identify cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
2. Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Prepare annual and monthly budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates .
- Monitor actual vs. budgeted costs and highlight deviations with root-cause analysis.
- Support management in strategic planning, pricing decisions, and financial modelling.
3. Inventory & Material Control
- Review and validate inventory valuation , consumption reports, and stock movements.
- Coordinate with stores, procurement, and production teams for accurate material reconciliation .
- Ensure proper valuation and control of WIP, finished goods, and scrap .
4. MIS, Reporting & Data Management
- Prepare MIS reports , cost sheets, profitability reports, and operational dashboards.
- Provide cost insights for management decision-making.
- Implement strong data management practices and maintain financial accuracy.
5. Internal Control, Audit Support & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal cost accounting standards.
- Support internal/external audits, statutory audits, and cost audits.
- Strengthen internal controls across the costing and inventory processes.
6. Manufacturing & Plant Costing Exposure
- Hands-on experience in costing for manufacturing/industrial/steel/metals sectors.
- Understand factory operations, production cycles, wastage control, OEE, and overhead allocation.
- Work closely with production, purchase, and finance teams.
7. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance (Advantage)
- Exposure to GST/VAT , import duties, excise, and plant-level tax compliance.
- Familiarity with Ghana's VAT system is an added advantage (not mandatory).
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) .
- Expertise in Tally ERP / SAP / Oracle or similar ERP systems.
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel , costing tools, and MIS.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Eligibility Criteria
- CA / CMA / ICWA qualified – mandatory .
- Minimum 10 years of experience in cost accounting.
- Must have worked in a manufacturing company (steel/metals/heavy industry preferred).
- Willing to relocate to Ghana (West Africa) .
