Job Description
The Financial Services Legal team is global in scope and is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and advising on regulatory developments; responding to regulatory proposals and consultations; supporting the implementation of regulatory-driven operational and policy changes; advising on the regulatory implications of new service models; and addressing regulatory matters arising in the context of Oracle’s sales, marketing and transactional activities. Through this work, the team plays a key role in advancing Oracle’s commercial objectives while managing its risks and maintaining its commitment to legal and regulatory compliance.
The Role & Core Responsibilities
Oracle is seeking an experienced lawyer to join the team as Senior Corporate Counsel. This new role was created in response to developments in the regulatory landscape that affect Oracle as a service provider to key regulated sectors, such as the EU Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and other global regimes. The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide critical support to Oracle’s compliance journey by helping to design and implement frameworks, policies and processes that enable the company to meet its obligations under applicable regulations while managing risk. The consultant will partner with internal stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor who can drive necessary changes, manage Oracle’s engagement with regulators, ensure communications are accurate and consistent, and help the company prepare for and respond to regulatory oversight activities.
Key Requirements
- Practicing lawyer with 4‑6 years of relevant post‑qualification experience gained at a top‑tier law firm or in‑house legal department
- Located in the European Union (ideally Ireland or the Netherlands) or the United Kingdom
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in the financial services sector including DORA
- Experience dealing with regulators and managing regulatory supervision
- Experience developing and implementing compliance frameworks
- Knowledge of the technology sector
- Excellent communication skills; diligent and attentive to detail
- Self‑motivated, adaptable and commercially minded
Responsibilities
Provide legal advice to the organization and maintain close liaison with business. Offer corporate and commercial legal services, coordinate litigation and other legal, administrative or investigative actions handled by outside counsel, and draft, review, and negotiate major technology contracts. Adhere to government and regulatory compliance requirements, respond to ad hoc queries, and identify, analyze and evaluate risks to provide appropriate legal solutions. Work closely with other lawyers within Oracle and support coordination of outside legal matters. Demonstrate deep general commercial or functional knowledge across a sub‑discipline within the specialty area(s) (e.g., corporate law, antitrust, securities compliance, employment law, cloud transactions, data privacy, risk management, intellectual property).
