Take off with Airbus Helicopters!

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join our Information Management (IM) / IT Department within the Analytics Solution domain based in Marignane or Donauwörth.

Join us to shape the future of aeronautics and help protect lives during missions accomplished thanks to our helicopters.

Role Mission

The RTE is the Primary Facilitator and Operations Leader for the Agile Release Train (ART). Rather than managing people, you manage the Value Stream. You are responsible for the health of the “Team of Teams” ecosystem, ensuring that delivery is predictable, impediments are cleared at the team of teams level, and the ART operates as a synchronized, high‑performance unit.

Core Responsibilities

  • Synchronize the “Team of Teams”: Drive the rhythm of the ART and design the communication architecture that allows 50–125+ people to move in the same direction without friction.
  • Drive Execution: Own the operational roadmap for each Program Increment (PI). Track progress against Program Objectives and use data‑driven insights (Flow Metrics, Velocity) to identify where the “engine” is stalling.
  • Architect PI Planning: Lead the design of the ART’s most critical alignment event, ensuring that content from Product Management and capacity from the teams produce a committed, realistic plan.
  • Remove Systemic Impediments: Tackle budgeting silos, cross‑train dependencies, and infrastructure gaps that prevent the ART from reaching its full potential.

Strategic Skills & Mindset

  • Operational Excellence: Apply a systems‑thinking mindset, looking at the whole train to find bottlenecks instead of optimizing individual teams.
  • Servant Leadership & Facilitation: Create an environment for success, provide guardrails and data that enable teams to self‑manage effectively.
  • Predictability & Transparency: Serve as the source of truth for the ART’s health and keep Business Owners informed of progress, risks, and flow of value.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Program Predictability: Measure how well the ART delivers against its planned objectives.
  • Flow Efficiency: Measure the proportion of time work spends waiting versus moving.
  • ART Health: Track e‑NPS and maturity levels of the “team of teams.”

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 5–8 years in a related area.
  • Problem‑Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong ability to communicate Agile concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Agile Experience: Expert in agile development methodologies.
  • Industry Knowledge (Preferred): Understanding of the aviation or aerospace industry and its data challenges.
  • Languages: Fluency in English (required); knowledge of French (advantageous).

Technical Skills

  • SAFe Framework Expertise & Event Facilitation: Mastery of large‑scale Lean‑Agile events, especially PI Planning, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and Scrum of Scrums.
  • Servant Leadership & Agile Coaching: Lead without authority, coach Scrum Masters, Product Managers, and teams, resolve conflicts, and foster continuous improvement.
  • Impediment Removal & Flow Optimization: Track and eliminate systemic roadblocks, manage cross‑team dependencies, and optimize the value stream using metrics such as Flow Efficiency and Program Predictability.
  • Risk & Dependency Management: Drive proactive risk mitigation strategies and visualize critical‑path dependencies via the Program Board.
  • Strategic Alignment & Backlog Management: Collaborate with Product Management and Business Owners to manage the Program Backlog, apply WSJF prioritization, and align technical runway risks with business priorities.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package, including salary, bonuses, profit‑sharing, participation and a preferred share ownership plan.
  • Professional development opportunities (training, mentoring, international mobility), health coverage, retirement plans and a commitment to work‑life balance.
  • Social and Economic Committee (CSE) offering many advantages such as company restaurant, children’s leisure center, sports facilities and travel allowances.
  • Transport facilities: Company shuttles or reimbursement of an annual transport pass.

Employment Type: Permanent. Classe Emploi: Classe G13. Experience Level: Professional. Job Family: Programme & Project Management.
