Consulting Systems Engineer -SASE

Overview

Fortinet is looking for people to join the Consulting Systems Engineering (CSE) FortiGate/SASE Enterprise team based in Sophia Antipolis, France. The role is suitable for candidates within commuting distance or willing to relocate, and remote candidates are welcome. We value deep knowledge in networking and security and the ability to communicate and share that enjoyment with others.

Responsibilities

• Assist sales staff in the field with challenging and demanding projects.
• Provide design assistance, architectural and technical advice, and product insight.
• Carry out extensive lab testing of solutions, optimising for performance or meeting pre-defined performance goals.
• Conduct "Hands On" testing in our lab in Sophia Antipolis, using market‑leading traffic generators and security testing tools, and equipment from third‑party vendors for integration work.
• Deliver test results to senior technical people within customer organisations via written documents, face‑to‑face meetings, or remotely hosted meetings.
• Give general technical assistance to the Sales Teams.
• Assist with field‑based remote Proof of Concept (POC) activity and run/deliver POCs in the office.
• Provide input to RFP responses.
• Write New Feature Requests and work with Engineering to implement them.
• Deliver technical seminars and training to internal and external participants.
• Provide design expertise and assistance to the field.

Skills Required

• Top networking knowledge: IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.), VPN and related IPsec, SSL/TLS.
• Expertise in Network Security, Secure SD‑WAN, SASE (FWaaS, SWG, CASB, ZTNA, etc.), Public and Private Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP, OpenStack).
• Security skills: IPS, Anti‑virus, Web filtering, Application control, SSL/TLS "Deep Inspection".
• Product skills: FortiGate knowledge a big plus; knowledge of competitors’ products also a plus.
• Presentation, technical writing, and communication skills.
• Motivation and ability to work independently day to day while contributing to a team environment.
• Enthusiasm and desire to pass knowledge and information to others.

About the Role

The CSE role is wide‑ranging and very technical, mixing networking, security, and human interaction. It involves lab testing, delivering results, and supporting sales and engineering functions.
