Commissioning Engineer / Technical Commissioning Specialist

Join a major mission-critical infrastructure project and play a key role in ensuring complex facilities are fully tested, validated, and ready for operational handover.

We're seeking a technically strong commissioning professional to support the review and assessment of construction, commissioning, and turnover activities on a large-scale engineering project. This is not a traditional project management role. Instead, you'll act as a technical authority, reviewing deliverables, witnessing testing activities, identifying risks, and challenging standards where necessary to ensure systems are fit for operation.

Responsibilities

• Review commissioning plans, testing procedures, and technical documentation
• Witness commissioning and integrated systems testing activities
• Assess handover packages, QA/QC documentation, drawings, and operating manuals
• Identify technical risks, deficiencies, and gaps before operational handover
• Track remediation actions and support issue resolution with contractors and stakeholders
• Provide technical recommendations on system readiness and operational suitability
• Support the development and review of operating procedures and readiness activities

Requirements

• Strong commissioning experience within complex engineering or industrial environments
• Ability to review technical documentation and challenge deliverables where required
• Background in mission‑critical facilities, power generation, utilities, industrial projects, oil & gas, nuclear, or similar highly regulated sectors
• Experience balancing on‑site inspections with documentation review and reporting
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Confident stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence without direct authorityExperience supporting QA/QC reviews of technical documentation and turnover packages, including O&M manuals and commissioning records
