Commercial Underwriting Manager - AXA Health International H/F

Job Summary

Head of Underwriting – AXA Health International (AXA Life & Health International Solutions). Responsible for meeting profitability targets on the portfolio of large corporate and international organisation clients.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead a team of 8 commercial underwriters dedicated to Cross-border Health & Protection risks within the Large Corporate (global expatriates) and International Organisations (diplomats and employees of IGO/NGOs) segments, (re)insured by AHI in partnership with MGAs.
• Responsible for ensuring new business and profitability targets are met, for a portfolio of around EUR400 million.
• Ensure that health and protection insurance risks are assessed against AHI’s risk appetite, at new business and renewal stage.
• Work effectively with colleagues across AXA Health International, notably the Partnerships & Reinsurance Market Function, and present to clients when required.
• Work effectively with the Proposition Contracts team to ensure that the client accounts and profit share statements are issued on a timely basis.
• As part of the senior leadership of AHI’s Underwriting & Proposition Global Function, contribute to the overall technical excellence agenda of AHI.

Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years experience in an underwriting role, with an underwriting authority of at least EUR3 million.
• Experience in the IPMI large corporate segment, as well as the IGO/NGO/MOFA segment.
• Technical expertise with both health and protection risks.
• Ideally exposure to both direct and reinsurance.
• Experience managing a team.
• Outstanding analytical and structuring capabilities for strategic decision‑making and project execution.
• Strong time management and ability to self‑organise, particularly in ambiguous and complex situations.
• Excellent English and French is a must.
