Commercial Controller (BU Coffee & Food Preparation)
The Sales Controller supports Sales Management in driving profitable growth across global markets. Acting as a key business partner, the role provides financial insight, performance analysis, and strategic guidance to the Business Unit (BU) leadership and Commercial teams. The position is responsible for all commercial controlling and reporting activities for the BU Coffee and Food Preparation, ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies and local regulations.
Business Performance & Closing Excellence
- Own the monthly commercial performance closing, delivering clear variance analysis, actionable insights, and high-quality management reporting.
- Translate numbers into narratives that support fast and informed leadership decisions.
- Continuously monitor profitability and initiate performance improvement actions across the business.
Commercial Controlling & Governance
- Safeguard profitability through strong pricing and commercial governance, ensuring alignment with Group standards.
- Oversee customer programs (rebates, contracts, transfer pricing) and commercial cost structures (SG&A, logistics, warranty).
- Actively monitor discounting and price realization to protect margins and value creation.
KPI Ownership & Performance Steering
- Define, track, and challenge core commercial KPIs (price, volume, mix, margin).
- Steer performance in close collaboration with Sales leaders, driving accountability and results.
- Identify gaps early and support corrective actions with data‑driven insights.
- Analyze sales and margin performance across products, markets, channels, brands, key customers, and agents.
- Turn analysis into practical recommendations to improve profitability and accelerate growth.
- Support customer and portfolio decisions with robust financial insight.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes (Revenue, Opex, Capex) in coordination with local and central teams.
- Identify risks and opportunities, build scenario analyses, and support strategic trade‑offs.
- Track forecast accuracy and continuously improve planning reliability.
Working Capital & Operational Efficiency
- Actively analyze and optimize working capital drivers (commercial inventory, flows, obsolescence).
- Lead cost control and efficiency initiatives, contributing to strong cash and margin performance.
Business Partnering with Sales & Marketing
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Sales and Marketing teams.
- Challenge assumptions on pricing, promotions, and customer strategies using facts and financial logic.
- Enable better decisions by combining commercial understanding with financial expertise.
Systems, Data & Process Optimization
- Drive enhancements in Commercial ERP and BI tools (e.g. Qlik, Power BI, Salesforce).
- Promote automation, data quality, and smarter processes to free up time for value‑added analysis.
- Actively contribute to the evolution toward a more data‑driven organization.
Cross‑Functional & Group Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance peers, Operations, R&D, and other Group entities.
- Support audits and ensure accurate financial allocations and transparency.
- Contribute to a strong Finance community and shared best practices.
Strategic Contribution
- Play an active role in long‑term business planning and strategic initiatives.
- Support leadership in defining priorities and achieving ambitious business objectives.
- Act as a connector between strategy and execution.
What’s Needed For You To Thrive
- A degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in financial controlling, ideally within commercial or FP&A environments
- Exposure to an international or matrix organization is an advantage
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, both local and international
- Strong business orientation combined with a sharp analytical and critical‑thinking mindset
- Ability to work autonomously with a structured, solution‑oriented approach
- Proven capability to partner with and positively influence commercial teams
- Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis, with the ability to clearly communicate insights through presentations
- Experience working with ERP and BI tools such as SAP, JDE, Qlik, Power BI, and/or Salesforce
- Interest in or knowledge of SQL or similar programming tools is a plus
- Fluent in English; French is an asset
- Willingness to travel occasionally as part of the role
