COA Licensing Attorney
Provide legal advice and services to support the organization’s business within an assigned region, across one or more of the following areas: contract law, employment law, commercial law, regulatory, and compliance. The role may also coordinate legal matters handled by outside counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts; ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational policies
- Manage and monitor the contract lifecycle to ensure adherence to contractual guidelines and satisfaction of internal and external stakeholders, including participation in pre‑contract discussions, negotiations, and contract amendments
- Provide legal advice and support, as needed, on employment law matters; partner with Human Resources on legal issues related to human capital, including discrimination, harassment, health and safety, hiring and termination, and employee rights and obligations
- Advise the organization on legal matters related to intellectual property, real estate, data privacy, and related regulatory requirements
- Analyze legal data to assess the advisability of defending or pursuing litigation; research statutes, regulations, and case law to determine appropriate legal strategy
- Prepare legal files and manage litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel where applicable; assess the impact of case outcomes and implement required follow‑up actions or policy changes
- Manage and maintain corporate entities within the assigned region, ensuring ongoing legal and regulatory compliance
- Support the legal team in mergers and acquisitions activities, including due diligence, documentation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- LLB (Hons) or equivalent degree from a recognized university
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand commercial implications
- Solid understanding of government regulations impacting organizational operations
- Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including drug discovery and development and the end‑to‑end drug development lifecycle
- Ability to work creatively and effectively in a fast‑paced environment
- Sound decision‑making skills with a solutions‑oriented mindset
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an open, direct, and persuasive communication style
- Strong presentation and influencing skills, with willingness to engage in constructive debate
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills to quickly establish credibility and trust across the organization
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Results‑driven team player with strong execution and delivery focus
