The Cloud Platform Engineer is responsible for implementing, operating, and optimizing the core cloud infrastructure and platform services that power our digital platform. This role focuses on building reliable, secure, and scalable cloud-native environments while enabling developers through automation, self-service capabilities, and standardized solutions. The position requires strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and effective collaboration across engineering, operations, and product teams.
Build Sonepar’s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
- Build and operate a developer‑centric platform that accelerates application delivery through automation, reusable components, and self‑service capabilities.
- Deliver secure, scalable, and resilient PaaS services aligned with enterprise standards and governance.
- Contribute to operational excellence by embedding observability, automation, and continuous improvement into platform operations.
- Support multi‑cloud and hybrid cloud environments to ensure flexibility and availability of services.
- Enable DevSecOps practices by integrating security and compliance controls into platform services and pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain platform components following the architecture defined by the Platform Engineering Lead.
- Ensure platform services are performant, scalable, and highly available.
- Deploy and manage cloud resources (Azure preferred), ensuring efficient and reliable operations.
- Monitor platform health, troubleshoot issues, and participate in incident response and resolution.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and operations.
- Promote and implement best practices for automation, configuration management, and release management.
Observability & Reliability
- Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions to ensure visibility into platform performance.
- Contribute to reliability engineering practices, including capacity planning and performance tuning.
Security & Compliance
- Apply security best practices including identity and access management, encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
- Work closely with application teams to onboard services and improve developer experience.
- Collaborate with architects, security teams, and other stakeholders to align platform capabilities with business needs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams using the platform.

- Platform services are reliable, secure, and consistently meet performance expectations.
- Deployment processes are automated, efficient, and require minimal manual intervention.
- Developers can easily consume platform services through self‑service capabilities.
- Incidents are resolved quickly with clear root cause analysis and continuous improvement actions.
- Strong alignment with Platform Engineering Lead strategy and enterprise architecture.
The Experience You Bring
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), containerization (Docker), and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of networking, cloud security, and microservices architectures.
- Ability to work effectively within cross‑functional teams in an agile environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- 3–6 years in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or related roles.
- Hands‑on experience in building and operating cloud‑based platforms or services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools.
- Experience with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor).
- Exposure to multi‑cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
- Understanding of cost optimization and FinOps practices.
