Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS/Terraform + Python)
Lenstra was founded by passionate computer science engineers with a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions. By combining technical excellence with a strong vision, we support top-tier clients across industries such as Banking & Insurance, Luxury, and Technology.
Our expertise is structured around four core pillars: Software Development, DevSecOps, Data & AI, and Product . Through a holistic understanding of our clients’ environments, we help them address their most complex challenges—from building robust software and secure cloud platforms to designing data-driven solutions that accelerate business impact.
The role is part of the Platform Engineering team - the core of products delivering by providing a reliable, secure, and scalable cloud platform. As a DevOps Engineer (AWS/Terraform), your mission is to design, industrialise, and operate the platform and tooling that enable teams to build, deploy, and evolve their applications quickly and safely on AWS.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced, reusable Terraform modules (networking, security, compute, data, edge) aligned with robust architectural standards and AWS best practices.
- Evolve a multi-account (AWS Organisations, Control Tower/SCPs, governance, identities) to provide a secure, scalable deployment framework.
- Define infrastructure and application blueprints (“golden paths”) for containerized (EKS/ECS/Fargate), serverless (Lambda), and traditional (EC2/ASG) workloads, including networking, observability, and security.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications (Jenkins/GitLab CI), including testing, policy-as-code (OPA/Conftest), security (tfsec/Checkov), and automated plan/apply (Atlantis/Spacelift/Terraform Cloud).
- Operate and harden the platform: monitoring/alerting/logging/tracing (CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenSearch, Datadog), SLI/SLO definition, capacity management, backups and disaster recovery.
- Secure the environment: least-privilege IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, patching, secret management (SOPS), IaC/image scanning.
- Manage Terraform at scale: remote state (S3 + DynamoDB locking), versioning strategy, module lifecycle, multi-environment patterns, driftdetection/remediation Identify and automate repetitive tasks (Bash/Python tooling, Terraform automation, or AI copilots) to accelerate deployments and migrations.
- Contribute to L2/L3 support, incident management and post-mortems; produce clear documentation and ensure knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in DevOps/SRE/Platform Engineering and at least 2 years of hands‑on production experience on cloud.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent).
- Strong mastery of Terraform: module design, providers, state management, structure and best practices, testing and release.
- Deep cloud computing expertise: VPC/Transit Gateway, IAM, EC2/ASG, EKS/ECS/Fargate, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, ALB/NLB, Route 53, Lambda, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, KMS, Organisations/Control Tower.
- Proficient in Python for backend development: able to design, build, and maintain APIs (not just scripting) — comfortable working full-stack when a tool or platform component calls for it.
- Strong DevOps practices and CI/CD experience; Git, MR/code review.
- Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS), packaging (Helm), registry and supply chain security.
- Excellent collaboration skills; ability to translate product needs into simple, robust, secure technical solutions.
- Fluent in English and French.
