Cloud Architect - AI Healthcare Startup

We're working with an ambitious AI startup building the cloud platform powering next-generation surgical intelligence.

Their technology combines AI, computer vision and large-scale data infrastructure to help transform complex surgical video and clinical data into structured, trustworthy insights that improve healthcare.

They're now looking for a Senior Cloud Architect to take ownership of their cloud platform from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage engineering team where you'll define architecture, establish engineering standards, and build the infrastructure that the entire product and AI platform depends on.

The Role

As the Senior Cloud Architect, you'll own the design, implementation and long-term reliability of the company's cloud infrastructure.

You'll work closely with software engineers and AI engineers to build scalable systems capable of handling large volumes of video, machine learning workloads and production services.

This is a hands-on technical role with significant architectural ownership rather than a management position.

What you'll be doing

• Design and build the company's cloud infrastructure from the ground up.
• Own Kubernetes environments, networking, security and deployment architecture.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (or similar).
• Build CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows that enable rapid, reliable releases.
• Design secure storage, compute and data transfer systems for large AI datasets.
• Implement monitoring, logging and observability across the platform.
• Improve scalability, resilience, disaster recovery and security.
• Partner with AI and backend engineers to support machine learning infrastructure and production services.
• Drive DevOps best practices across the engineering organisation.
• Help shape technical direction as the platform scales.

We're looking for someone with experience in

• Designing and operating production cloud infrastructure.
• AWS, GCP or Azure (GCP experience is particularly valuable).
• Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
• Networking, security, IAM and cloud architecture.
• Monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or Datadog.
• Docker and containerised applications.
• Building highly available, scalable production systems.
