Could you be the full-time Climatic Comfort System Engineer in St Ouen in France we’re looking for?
Your future role:
Take up a new challenge and use your expertise in design and climatic comfort to define solutions at car level using an innovative approach. Reporting to Nadine MOUSSA (Power & Driving, Climatic Comfort Technical Team Manager) , you will work alongside multicultural and inclusive teams and collaborate with the Train System community.
You will be part of the Train System Office, where your role will be to develop standard climatic comfort solutions and ensure their deployment on projects.
You will reinforce the Right First Time pass climate comfort culture across Alstom's global sites. On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with teams from the rolling stock business (high-speed, tramway, metro, regional, etc.), providing expert answers and guiding towards optimization.
We’ll look to you to:
- Lead climate comfort activities: define subsystem design with suppliers, ensure on-train validation, lead stakeholder meetings
- Lead and participate in the Climate Comfort Network worldwide
- Support project and tender activities for various Alstom sites
- Ensure the deployment of standard solutions on projects
- Propose innovative solutions, from design to demonstration
All about you:
- Graduate with a Master's degree in mechanical engineering, you have strong expertise in railway/thermal/fluid-AeroX/CFD/HVAC/vehicle architecture design (minimum 3 to 5 years).
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics
- Familiarity with climate comfort load calculations and the design and architecture principles of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
- Good understanding of the role of systems/subsystems on climate comfort performance and good trade-off skills.
- Good understanding of cost models for HVAC systems, ductwork, glazing and flooring that contribute to climate comfort.
- You have good communication and organisational skills (ability to meet deadlines). You are results-oriented, intellectually curious and creative.
- You are fluent in English and are keen to work independently in an international environment and to take up the challenges of the new Alstom.
- Proactivity, attention to detail and a caring attitude are important. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Conflict management and multi-tasking. Customer focus / management skills.
